Just thought I would share this.....my daughter's neurologist called last night to check on Tay's status. He also asked if it would be OK to share our story with another family. Apparently, due to the information he has gathered (and I have sent him ALOT from this site) about Taylor's condition over the past three years, his practice was able to diagnose another 14 yo patient with a leak fairly...

Hi guy, Hi all, I am home from Cedars after having surgical repair of leak at T9-10. Dr Schievink found an area of dura that was very thin and "sweating" csf. I won't candy coat it, the recovery has been painful, I really feel for those who have multiple sites repaired. But like Dr Schievink kept reminding me, this pain is temporary, he expects me to have my normal life back in a few ...

My HA has gotten so much better, I can't stress how much better I feel these days, but I'm not at 100% yet. I still have bad days. Anyway, I get the worst HA during that "time of the month" and it is constant for at least 4 days. I never ever had a HA at this time of the month before this whole leak thing. Is there anyone else who has their HA intensify during this time of the month? Is there any...

Hi all! Just wanted to give you all an update. I am now almost 6 weeks post-op with Dr. S. He repaired 5 leaks in my T-spine. I have been having physical therapy now for a week. I AM FEELING GOOD!!! The headaches seem to be much less than the week after surgery. Once in a great while I have a very mild HA, but nothing much to complain about. I do, however, still have the ringing and...

Hi mindi, I'm glad to hear the dizziness has gotten better. Its amazing how our incredibly beautifully design bodies tries to function normally even under the most unfavoring circumstances like a leak. During the last 2 days, 3 with today my dizziness is not as bad. I have been able to do more around the apartment without having to lay down, though I still feel odd the whole day. I'm ...

Hi guys, I don't know if I've posted since my fibrin glue patch failed, but it did, and I'm heading out the end of this month for surgical repair with Dr Schievink. The patch was a success for about 12 days. My leak is just one cyst/dilated nerve root sleeve, so it won't be a really extensive surgery and they are optimistic that this will be a cure. Trying to remain optimistic through ...

Hi all, I have taken the plunge and am now at Cedar's. You may remember that I am a spontaneous spinal leaker with 12 suspected thoracic leaks and have been on bedrest for almost 7 years. Despite my high pain tolerance, even with meds, I can only be up 1.5-2 hrs. I failed 5 blood patches, and everything else they had to throw at me back in the day. Dr. S. told my local docs what to do and and ...

I understand sometimes a headache can change from low-pressure to high-pressure after surgical repair of the dura. Does anyone know if it is possible for this to happen during the natural healing process of the dura? I'm assuming that after a sudden seal of the dura, the body is so used to over-producing csf that when the hole is closed up and there is no longer a leak, the pressure can ...
