FMS clients often have a high tolerance for discomfort. Those that do often indicate a preference for "deep" pressure, as if more was always better. But they are at substantially greater risk of tissue damage if you work very aggressively. There are some good threads on FMS on BWOL, and I also recommend this article: http://amtamassage.org/journal/pdf/CE-
Fibromyalgia .pdf - It's a good CE ...

I try to explain to clients that muscles can become very tense and that these "knots" are spots in the muscle that are holding or restricting free movement and
range of motion. I tell them that they can be caused by improper posture, structural deviation, and "everyday body choices" (ie, the way we sit, how you hold a purse on a specific shoulder, typing on the keyboard =) I know this seems very...

Where are you located? I have a client who does some work with VA housing for recovering addicts. They may have someone who has done some work with massage. If you are in a city near one of his projects, I could give you some info of where to call. PM me.

Am I crazy, or does it sound "wrong" that the augmentation will be UNDER the pecs?? Every time the pec contracts, it will be squishing (sorry to use such a
technical term...LOL) the augmentation material (some kind of gel, I assume), no? Keep in mind that these questions come from a person with no experience/knowledge of augmentation procedures beyond pop-culture info. Somebody can feel free...

my first experience of pitting edema. oh! so THAT's what that looks like. wow. it really doesn't spring back at all. I told her I need her to see her MD. I even wrote a letter to her MD asking for his professional opinion. She had recently had a cardiology workup & everything was fine. But I am still concerned about her kidneys. Well, she has been back twice ...

(btw - who was she referred to you by?) Median nerve impingement can affect these digits - thumb, index, middlle and half of ring finger. Impingement can be at nerve root where it exits thru
cervical vertebrae, scalenes, pectorals, etc or at carpal tunnel. If she want's lower body work then it doesn't sound like she wants the condition treated that she was referred for. Start with good ...

In my practice, I have many similar experiences with clients who when working seemingly unrelated parts of the body (but we know they're all related!) there are referral issues. Mostly it is due to tightness in the fascia itself and not a specific muscle. If you haven't already, you might want to check out
Thomas Myers Anatomy Trains books. If you aren't squeamish, you would also like his ...
