Why Free Chair Massage?
Published (2009-12-17 08:38:00)
I'm always surprised that people still thinking giving away free massage will build their business. I absolutely think that unpaid chair massage is a thankless job that rarely leads to new clients. I do offer chair massage for businesses, or spa parties, but I always get back, and I always explain how much a table massage with "warm oils and soft music and aromatherapy is sooooo relaxing.." ha ha =) I'm not a big...

2009 Holiday Gift Certificate Sales
Published (2009-12-19 21:03:00)
Yeah, we didn't even open the shop today. I was up to get ready for work and looking outside wondering if I would be able to make it to a main road (live out in the country) and the phone rang. The shop owner said she had a heck of a time even getting to the shop and was going to head right back home again. No one was going to come get a massage or buy a gc. I hope that whomever was planning on buying one will be in this week to get it,...

2009 Holiday Gift Certificate Sales

Sales are picking up. seems to be less certificates but larger amounts. I have had a number of sales for over $100 and a couple for more than $200. Some of these large ones are for existing regular clients and some are for new clients.

2009 Holiday Gift Certificate Sales

JasonE wrote: Our GC sales are pretty decent, though not much better than last year. We do most of our sales at the store, but get some telephone orders as well. We'd like to see another $15-30k in GC sales this coming week. Our poor receptionists are really hopping to keep up! Today we rolled out our first-ever eShop with a brief selection of GC and package options. It's still a bit rough around the edges, so please let me know if...

Ours were going gangbusters until 24" of global warming fell overnight and wiped out the last shopping weekend before Christmas. $1500 alone yesterday, was expecting over $2000 today and tomorrow.

Feedback on our new eShop, please!

Today we rolled out our first-ever eShop with a brief selection of GC and package options. It's still a bit rough around the edges, so please let me know if you have any tips/suggestions to improve it. Once past the holidays, we'll keep it going and see how it impacts GC sales throughout the year. The online specials, of course, will change now and then. Thank you in advance for your thoughts, suggestions, advice, etcetera!

2009 Holiday Gift Certificate Sales

Update for me: No more sales yet, but I'll be giving 20 GC's (full hours again) to a Pilates company that is about 15 mins. from my office. I have known two of the pilates instructors and one feldenkrais instructior there for a little over two years now, and just tonight was able to attend their annual Open House/Christmas party. I have been meaning to work at getting my hands on more like-minded professionals, and since they have 20...

We've been doing really good so far. I've been selling an average of 5 a day and there are 5 of us in the shop, so the others are doing about the same. Of course, no one knows who will be doing the actual sessions (excluding sessions bought by family for regulars) but gift card usage is pretty evenly divided among us. The past couple of years we've done about $8000 in gift cards around the ...

At first glance, it's very pleasing to the eye. A few suggestions: 1. The "Home" page feels superfluous. I would take that copy and put it at the top of the Items page and have Items be the "home" page. Why make people read an introduction and force them to click on another page to find your offerings? 2. I'm thrown by the "convenience charge." Perhaps it's just the term "convenience ...

Rebecca, Your best source for new clients are your existing client base. Have you every asked them for referals?? Here is what I do: I pass out coupons for new clients to existing clients. I tell them I will give them $10 credit for everyone they refer. The coupon is for new clients only and gives them a discount on a 60 or 90 minute session. When these clients come in with the ...

Right out of school I was offered an "opportunity" to pay for a space to provide free chair massage at an event where all other vendors were selling their products. I think SEO is a waste of time and money. Trying to trick the search engines in that way doesn't usually work out because the search engines are always changing what they're looking for. The best ways to increase traffic to your website are building inbound links from other sites, increasing the average time a visitor spends on your site and updating your site content regularly. You can build ...

Consider the two most likely scenarios If you sell most of them to your existing clients who give them to friends, then following your policy may create goodwill with your client base, but also signals to them their friends don't value your massage as a gift. You end up "selling" these to your existing clients, who might forgo their usual session by redeeming the unused voucher. This would do ...

Congratulations. Recently I had another logo done. I've had two now. The first was about $900 with other branding. The second was $450 (logo only). It will depend on the person doing it for you. I liked the first one, but it was an open image and we found we could not place it easily on caps, shirts, etc. The new one is more simple and on a circle for the background. This is much more ...
