1. Did you test the 5 rep maxes before you started the program? 2. How long where you on the 5 x 5? 3. After how many weeks of starting did you start having the shoulder problem? what I am getting at is this - your body was used to 10 rep range. It had become efficient at lifting weights for 10 reps. Yeah removing warm up sets makes it much cleaner. As for the Power Cleans... it's supposed to be 5 sets of 3, afaik. I don't have book with me to make 100% certain. It's an intense movement and takes a lot out of you especially combined with squats.
