I bought the pros for the longer strap. I have small hands as well. If the grips are a little big that's fine, being too small is not. Plus if you wear gloves under them as I do that can take up some space.

Compound vs. Isolation
Published (2009-11-27 16:04:00)
I've been back in the gym for 6 weeks after an 8 year break from regular training and compound exercises are working a treat for me. When I first got back into it I was doing more complicated routines (found them on BB.com), but I've reverted back to basic compounds because my goal is to just put muscle where there currently isn't really much, in particular my upper body (but it is growing! )

Proper Form????

Most people don't use full ROM on the leg press and they are SO impressed with themselves at the weight they can push. Yet when you look at their squat numbers it's way down. Now whether or not they are intending to do partial ROM, I couldn't tell you but I wouldn't brag about it that's for sure. You keep doing what you're doing girl, you'll soon be beating them all with full ROM.

Cutting for a photoshoot, ADVICE!?

Wait... I am a little confused. You state that you don't lift heavy but you show your best deadlift at over 200lbs...That is a LOT for someone your size. Fat burners are going to do nothing. They are usually just supplements that are full of caffeine and a bunch of other crap. All that is going to do is cause adrenal fatigue. Fat burners will do nothing if your diet is off. If someone who knows how to measure your BF is using calipers...

I would recommend at least one cheat day a week. You said you have a few slip ups, in my opinion the slip ups are because we all have cravings thats what the cheat day is for.

Have you tried calf raises? These are very effective when done the right way. It will no doubt be difficult to gain muscle for you because you are tall, but if you work them everyday you will notice a difference.

Same here. The lifting sucked and the cardio was not difficult enough.

I think it sounds like ass-kicking fun, but the local derby team always posts these great, somewhat-gory injury photos, and then I wuss out. Not big on a sport that's quite likely to net me broken bones or stitches (all sports have that possibility, but it sure seems especially easy to get hurt in roller derby!).

If you are not losing weight, you need to look at your diet and not your workout routine.

Wow, that is one heavy weight you are lifting there! I can't help you here cause I can't lift anywhere near that. I can lift 12Kg's DB's but struggle to get the 14's up. If only I had a spotter who could who could give me the DB's once my arms are up in the straight position and I would be fine.
Bows with respect! LOL

Of course you can. Where did this guy get his certification, a gumball machine? Ask him to show you sources. Oh, that's right, there are no reputable sources showing that women over 50 can't build muscle.

there's no specific way to train to look like her. all humans share the same muscular structure. there are tons of different WOs on the site.
the trick is to enlargen your muscles through years of heavy training, later lower your bodyfat through diet and then get a boob job and a fake tan

I would say she could stick to a workout typical to yours. I'd first assess her to the best of your ability for basic stabilization, strength, etc. first. I'm attatching a pdf that teaches you how to do the gradual progression from stabilization to strength to power (I have another one that is much more specific on power/strength where there are also exercise examples of each - but it's too big...

How would you respond to this? She is in good shape but says that she has low energy levels. Would light lifting and cardio be a better idea?
There are all kinds of yoga... power yoga/...
