The medicine ball
Published (2009-11-23 20:38:00)
Since joining a CrossFit gym recently, I've found several uses for a medicine ball: 1. Wall Ball - Stand in front of a wall. Squat down with the ball held over your head. Stand back up quickly and throw the ball at a 10' high target on the wall. Catch the ball and squat back down again. Repeat as needed. (I've done these with a 20# ball. It ain't pretty.) 2. Situps - Your worst enemy stands facing you as you do situps on...

The Truth Hurts

Hey buddy. The truth is your best friend in this sport! AND conditioning is number one, symmetry number two, third is size and last is presentation! Can you put it all together and and demand it! Even when all comes together, you still can get skunked if politics come into play. It's a tough sport where the weak will not survive. Two years in a row, I came in OVER depleted. That to0 can take it's toll on the stage. The good news is...

Stop looking at the scale and check the way clothes fit and what you see in the mirror. If all you are concerned with is what the scale says, don't lift weights eat a very low cal diet do a ton of cardio, you will loose the numbers on the scale but will feel like crap have no muscle tone and be weak as kool-aid with no sugar. Sorry if this sounds like a sarcastic reply but it really is only half ...

It's a personal choice, I'm in pain to have tendinitis of the elbow as well as other issues but I choose to lift always will just do my best to work around it.
A Dr. would most likely tell you not to because it will aggrivate it.
Such is life.

Serge also did 2000 sit ups a day. He was genetically gifted, yes.... but we can all take a lesson from his dedication to his craft.
Extreme physiques require extreme measures. Serge Nubret would have defeated Arnold a couple of times, had his legs been a bit better.
Wishing Serge the best, he's been in a coma for months now, in France. Hope he is able to someday recover.

The squat has more real world strength carryover than does the leg press. That is, the strength acquired from the squat will have many more real world applications than the strength acquired from the leg press. So, on just about any definable measure of strength, the squatter will outperform the leg press guy.
