I hate to tell you guys but some men absolutely can have a maintenance level of 1600-1800 calories per day because they are sedentary. They sit on their asses 8-10 hours a day. Hitting the gym 2 hours a day and eating every 3 hours does not overcome this sloth metabolism. There are plenty of guys, including me, on this board who will attest to this. So...if you're at sub 10% BF, then the BMR will be higher. How much higher in a sedentary...

Sorry, man, but I'm doing the same thing (cutting) for almost 5 weeks but with a different approach. Eating approx. 3000 cals/day on a 40/40/20 split (so that would be approximately 300g of protein & carbs, 67g fat (mid-high teens sat).....and I'm crushing the iron. Setting PRs across the board. My recovery time is off the charts, my training never heavier, metabolism is an inferno, sleeping ...

Lighting, position, angle, and focus make big differences when trying to make comparisons. It is hard to get everything exact but makes it easier to see differences when you keep things the same. The lighting in the bottom picture shows cuts more than the top. Since that is the later picture that is a great thing. It's all smoke and mirrors, lol. Ever go to a store and use their well lit dressing...

If they fit into your cals and macros, don't really cut into your nutritional needs (important on a deficit), and don't lead to binges then you're fine. I'll eat dark chocolate daily no matter what I'm doing.

If you aren't tracking your cals and hidden cals can be in there then you have no idea if you're eating 1800 cals or not. You also can't do too low of a fat diet. Fat is essential, even for body fat losses. Do yourself a huge favor and track your cals. It does not take long to do so. Make sure you're getting 0.3 - 0.5g of good fats per pound of body weight. I don't buy the slow ...

Obviously load more weight on the bar and swing even harder. As a 35+ novice lifter your joints and tendons are going to be extremely resiliant to any forces applied to them, so have at it. I saw someone tear a bicep in the gym last week, it rolled up inside their arm like it was trying to hide from something.
