keto shake

If you keep the amount of carbs in your PWO shake small (20g or less) then it doesn't count as the body uses it so quickly it doesn't affect ketosis for more than a very short time. You still count the calories, of course. 35-40g of carbs is on the high side for keto.

Trouble with ketosis
Published (2009-11-25 20:15:00)
I would drop the juice. that may be the reason you're not reading any ketones, (remember ketostix are not always accurate). Anything with Fructose (in fruit) and sucrose (table sugar) shouldn't be used post w/o. They may kick you out of ketosis (they can refill liver glycogen). So as long as your fruit juice doesn't have any of those, you're ok.

You really should never go below that. I even think that is ridiculous.

Be patient.. It took me 5 days to reach ketosis for the first time.. Also if you drink a lot of water that may now show on the stix... Keep your diet straight and you will reach it.
BTW.. i would switch the carrots to a better carb veggie like broccoli, spinich, lettuce...etc.. any of the green leafy kind.. Higher in fiber.. carrots are kinda high in sugar for a veggie

Any of you tried these? They're Very satisfying.. But unfortunately pretty costly.. Good for when you don't wanna cook or something.
Atkins brand peanut butter fudge crisp canybars, They are amazing. 15g carbs... 8 grams of fiber = 7 carbs !
Got them at walmart. You'll find them in the pharmacy near the multivitamins.
They had like 10 other bars to choose from but these had the lowest carb...

stats - 260pounds 35%bf
goals - lose fat and get down to 5-10%bf as quick as possible (not worried about muscle loss -- want to lose they weight and get healthy, once bf is low, will start more of a strength/mass phase)

If you are not lifting hard, don't carb-up. Wait until you have at least a solid week of intense lifting behind you before you carb-up again. In the meantime, stick to straight keto.
5% carbs is fine, but for most people, that does mean about 20g or close, unless you are very big or very small. But if you are cutting on 5000 cals a day, you can safely increase your carbs to match.

So my little sister wants to go to the gym with me. I think it's great and I took her out and got her some protein and a shake bottle.
I told her that i was NOT a cardio bunny and she asked, "well why not, i just want to run on the treadmill". I think my eyes widened and my chin dropped. I asked her why and she said she wanted to get toned and be able to see her abs. I laughed really ...

The food looks fine.
Your calories might be on the high side if you are cutting. You'd want to be lifting very hard, on top of a very active manual job, to be able to drop fat on that calorie level.
Try about 14 cals per pound of lean mass as your cutting cals.
Protein a bit high. Keep protein between 1g per pound of lean mass and 1g per pound of total weight. Don't go higher ...
