Actually watching the demo at around 8:30, i do mine differently.Almost looks more like an extension, though he does say it is like half an extension, half press. I drop my elbows down, so put more shoulders into play, which i dont think is a bad thing. Im gonna try it his way the next bench day, and see how it goes.

Great lift bro! Your lower back seemed like it arched up farther than I do mine. Maybe lowering your butt some more would add just a little more to your PR! Do you ever do any training without your belt? I dont use a belt and could probably get about 560ish. Soon I will implement one for my training!

Ed Coan just mentioned in the first issue of power that he crapped himself on rep 2 of a 5 rep set. And finished.

Have ran it twice and loved it. Recomp was good and I probobly should have stayed with it longer b/c I could stand to lose some lbs. I would just follow the original template for 2 separate runs so you get in a groove then make some adjustments baised on what your body is telling you.

Do a web search for Dave Tate's periodization bible article series. I will lay out the basic "Westside" template. Keep it simple at first and use primarily straight weight for everything. Pick 3-4 ME exercises for both the lower body and upper body and rotate those lifts every week. Use the equipment you have available. There are a million ways to strengthen your back, glutes, and ...

If you looking just for strength, with little to no concern about cosmetic appearance your general rule of thumb is low reps, high weight, med sets. 5x5 is a good routine, i personally like. I also know a few people that do 6-8 1 rep sets.
Also work in pyramid sets.

There are a wide range of injuries that could of taken place or it could be simple inflammation that can be resolved with some time off and a NSAID. If it lasts for more than a few days i'd get it checked out to make sure you don't have a bulging disc or some other issue that can get seriously worse with continued lifting.
