Clean your yoke shaft where it will ride on the new seal. Light fine steel wool or Scotchbrite is good. Then lube it and the seal before you put he driveshaft back in. The seal can be taken out in a number of ways. Collapse it inwards with a punch, an pry it out. Use a seal remover tool [a little crow bar device]. Drill it and use a dent remover. Any common sense means. They are not in there with a death lock. You can tap the new one in evenly...

I had it happen to me. BTW kicking the gas tank actually got me home and saved me a tow. They can die in short order if you installed a defective one, and a swift kick in the tank sometimes wakes them up.

I just noticed a leak coming from my rear transmission where the driveshaft connects to the transmission. I assume this is the same type of seal as the rear main seal. How hard is this to replace and what speacialty tools will I need? thanks in advance oh look in my comment for the car its a manual transmission.

Yup exactly. Now I know, it could have been worse. And you're right -- these people really don't know any better. Countless people come in for an inspection and leave paying $500+ for things completely unnecessary.

I have gone away from platinum in everything I own with the exception of my tacoma which used regular copper Denso. Iridium is the only material to consider these days. When you get to this level you cannot tell the difference between NGK and Denso. Both are very good and have worked well in both foreign and domestic in my experiences. As you might already be well aware, Do Not gap iridium plugs. Im the kind of person that I have enough auto...

Thanks guy, I bought a gallon of MMO for 6 dollars at a flea market last summer. I'll use that up. From the sound of it, it wont hurt to use it as much as you want too. Thats what i was worried about, i didnt want to cause harm by running cleaner too often

Stainless steel is far more durable than aluminized steel. I would go with the stainless steel. I am looking into a stainless steel Flowmaster muffler for my Silverado. It is about time Flowmaster came out with stainless steel mufflers!

Do a compression check of all the cylinders before you start swapping injectors. If you bought it with a bad radiator, who knows how long it ran without coolant. The head gasket could be compromised between cylinders 1 & 2 or with an oil passage.

no , it is probably the belt. get a goodyear gatorback and it should stop. Ford belts do not last on the taurus. I have an 03 and it squeals too. previous owner replaced the belt with a ford belt and it will still squeal in the morning.

I just want to make clear though that the platinum tab falls off of OEM plugs that no one ever regapped. I can't remember if they were NGK or Denso, I get them confused and I don't really think there is any difference between the two anyway, but they can and should be checked/gapped. Platinum plugs are supposed to be gapped with a non-wire gauge and this gauge has the proper gapping atachment ...

My dad had bought a new 1983 Eldorado with the HT4100 engine. It had 135hp and chrome valve covers! - a nice looking engine for the era. The crome valve covers went away in 84/85 but the hp stayed the same. While my dad never had trouble out of the car, he did only keep it 1 year when he traded it for an 84 Seville. Only trouble I heard was that they blow head gaskets. Was not a well tought of ...

Could be when they drop the pan the fluid spilled over a bit. I know some places(my friend does this too as a mechanic) they loosen all the bolts first so the fluid drips out all around the sides of the pan till it subsides then they pull the pan. Otherwise if you take it off in one full swoop you are liable to spill it all over the place. Doesn't look like its leaking/seeping though. Clean it ...

I think the screen side is the inlet, so it goes pointing toward the condenser. In other words put the other side (non screen side) into the line that runs to the evaporator (low side). It should not be that hard to slide in. Maybe there is debris in the line, also oil the orifice tubes orings with compressor oil. Let me add, it should have an arrow on it, point this toward the evaporator and ...
