I ask because if you were going to get bookshelf speakers, then it may have been good to just get those now that you may be able to bi-amp, and then move them to the rear later once you get the fronts..... that was all.

In short, I own the 'flagship' (that's a joke) speaker system from the Monitor line. Monitor 70s for fronts, CS2 center, and Monitor 40s for surrounds. Throw in an Onkyo 805 and I have no problems driving rather very power hungry fronts at an entry level perspective. The center is clear and ...

Like the title says, I have about $1,300 to throw around in the speaker department.
I'm in a little dilemma because I don't know what to buy. I'm able to get the following Klipsch Reference set up for about $1,100:
two-RF-82s
one-RC-62
two-RS-52s
and one-RW10d
I've only heard great things about these speakers, but have found a few other speaker companies on the web for ...

For a while, you could buy brand new PSB speakers on Ebay for very low prices. If you don't mind, how much did you pay for yours?

A word of thank you to Big Daddy for creating this thread and to JasonR for the encouragement and enlightenment about what these types of threads could do.
As the offical Head Totem Guy on Blu-ray.com I shall try to provide some information about these highly regarded and quite moderately priced speakers.
Watch for info to follow soon......

i have been pretty happy with this setup so far as it was my first upgrade from a sony htib about 3 years ago. i have leaned ALOT since and plan to splurge on a 6 grand definitive technology upgrade. "I" feel that when listening to cd's or music on the higher cable channels that the bass from the sub fills the room quiet...

I'm right now running a 2 mains, a center, and a subwoofer that came with my Yamaha 5.1 speaker system. The mains are 2-way satellite speakers. There a local retailer that has Polk T15 speaker on sale for a little more than half-price and I was thinking of getting these and replacing my current mains with these and getting rid of my center and not use a center. I'd like to add a little more ...

IMO the Monitor series is the best speaker for the price, i have been using
Paradigm speakers for over 15 years and still have not heard a speaker that
i like the sound of better.

Did you go through all the packaging and check to see if there is 4 metal plates?
The plates link the woofers and tweeters if you only have one pair of connections (ie. not bi-wiring/bi-amping).
Should look something like this:

In answer to your question, I only own Definitive Technology speakers and I think the sound from them is really fantastic. As you can see below, I have 2 powered subwoofers too! I highly recommend these speakers although I am sure there are others who are partial to other speaker manufacturers.
My modest system:
