Just got my Smasung BD-P2500 last night, and WOW! My old-skool RCA rear project "lightbulb" TV has never looked so awesome. The 1080i signal through a HDMI to DVI cable was incredible. The setup was relatively easy, and surround sound through the optical digital output was great.
Then.......(Insert Jaws music here)..........
I installed the firmware update.

PS3 versus an LG 270?
Don't get all hot and bothered about this -- I own both players -- but I'm just curious if there is a compelling reason for keeping my PS3 in my theater room versus swapping it for the LG 270 for playing DVDs only (don't get sidetracked into the many other advantages the PS3 has -- indeed, one of the reasons ...

Do all Blu Player bitstream audio? Is that the best way?
Hi folks. I'm trying to find out if all Blu Ray players can bitstream audio to a receiver or if there is something to look for when buying. Also, is it better to bitstream to the receiver or to encode at the player and pass along? Not totally sure.

My Sharp HP20U also freezes and stutters with Star Trek. Just updated the player with the latest software 2 weeks ago in order to correct problems with Ice Age, Dawn of the Dinosaurs playback. That disc plays now, but Star Trek is so erratic that it's unwatchable. Discs no longer eject using either remote command or the unit's eject button. I spoke to a Sharp rep on the phone, I think all they ...

I hope this player gets released this spring rather than this summer. Come on Sony! Anyone heard any updates? I assume that it will initially be a 1.1 profile player, but it has an ethernet port, so what would enable it to be a 2.0 player? A firmware update?
