My old spare XP box HDD went kerthunk kerthunk kerthunk. Fortunately I got all the necessary files off before it failed completely. Now I'd like to give Linux a try but I can't seem to determine whether the distro from Ubuntu will do all the partitioning, formatting etc on a brand new HDD. It's in the August Australian edition-they've modified Ubuntu-removing a few things and adding some other applications. What do yous think of it? I'm looking at getting a computer and am toying with the idea of installing Ubuntu or this mag's version. Some questions: 1) If you get the mag's version, how does updating work? Asus to embed Linux into all motherboards. Asus is to embed a lightweight, instant-on version of Linux called "Splashtop" into all its motherboards, following good feedback from customers.
