Sometimes you have to run JL_Commander 20 times or more to get it to take. Pulling the BB battery while it's connected to your pc can sometimes help force the connection and enable JL_Commander to do it's magic. BlackBerry's are rarely bricked beyond salvage.

Voicemail isn't a feature of the BB. It's a feature of your carrier. You'd need to check with Verizon or someone else on Verizon. Have you tried to see if you can remove your recorded name?

That's good. That means it has no operating system or applications. Now try to install the OS, with NO third party applications. Just the handheld OS. Go into c:\program files\common filesesearch in motion\apploader delete vendor.xml run "loader.exe"

This doesn't definitively prove anything. Who relies on this specific type of data transfer on a day-to-day basis? I'm certain for most average users there are other more important concerns. Yes, selecting a device based solely on hype is a mistake. However, it doesn't mean that a hyped device isn't suited for certain people.

Can't say for certain about the address books. I know that you'll end up with one for each email account but I don't know how you can select your default and make it stick -- especially if you're on a BES as well. However, you can disable wireless sync via Options in the Address Book.

You might be playing with fire. most companies issue and control their devices for a reason. Try to circumvent the reason and you could be looking for a new job. Personal opinion, I would not put a personal device on the company system. If yu are on BES, as I suspect, then they will put an IT policy on the device which can lock out and render useless, some of the BB features. Don't ...
