Not free, but Rove Mobile Admin is phenomenal. In my opinion, it's a must have for any IT admin that carries a BlackBerry.

Changing the app control policy to disallow should work. It's worked for me in the past, don't get me wrong. I just tried to put as much in my control as possible. Stuff never works as fast as you'd like it, especially during testing. Good luck.

you will have to make a new database for 5.0 and move users over with transporter to do it that way.

This is normal. Even though the BIS service books are wiped out you can still continue to receive mail from the BIS account. Everything just goes under the Message icon. You just can't send with them. To restore normal BIS service you would have to resend the BIS service books.

BES Costs from UK Carriers
Published (2009-11-17 17:39:00)
Sorry - my original post probably wasn't clear. They told me it was £28 on top and I'd have to change to a business tarriff (the cheapest one was £28). So, £56 in total, up from the £20 I pay today for BIS.

I think £28 is pretty much normal (Vodafone, O2, Orange). I don't know about T-Mobile - but then I personally don't consider to be a network worth being on!

Never encountered this before and not an Exchange guy, but it sounds like it might be a service book issue. Try deleting the Desktop CMIME one and then reactivate (dont wipe and EA). Worth a shot.

I just shut off BB Router service, updated the permissions and I'm going to turn it back on in about 30 minutes or so.
I don't have high hopes for that fix though.....hmmmmmm

Does the BES server itself run on the old server?

Did you try a battery pull ? That seems to fix many issues.
Are you on BES? If so, perhaps the IT Policy is preventing it?

Signal strength on affected devices seems to be normal, if I remember correctly.

One other thing, after I saw this happen the first time I did recreate my BIS connection for private account (Using E- Mail settings within the SETUP area).

What about inbound port 4101? I've seen that in my firewall logs as well.
You actually posted about it here:
KB04675 - "SRP StartListening failed. Port 4101 may be in use by another application" - Port3101.org : Your BES Connection
I don't know about third party apps, but I've read the Desktop Manager can use that port.

The BlackBerry OCS client (Enterprise Messenger) does not talk to the OCS server directly. It only talks to BES, by way of BlackBerry Collaboration Services.
BES talks to the OCS server. Specifically, it talks to the CWA instance on the OCS server.
Unfortunately, OCS R2 is not compatible with BES.

I have had no troubles with allowing my users to do this. Heck, I have 3 different POP3 accounts configured on my own BB.
