I have enjoyed good trips to Jersey and Guernsey a fair few times with a day trip to Herm for the Puffins so I shall be very keen to follow this and see how Sark comes out. No transport there right? If so then that sounds ideal. Slip on the boots and walk all day!

A really nice list Quercus Don't think you can count the Mallards though Been trying to think of solutions for your missing letters - have you taken the plastic covers off the keys and given it a blow inside - may be just some dust or something in there. You could try downloading the (free programme) PhraseExpress , copy and paste (from somewhere) the missing letters then use the programme to put them in. May help until you find out...

Spotted at the waterpark and along the canal today,8 little egrets redpoll,gold,green and bullfinch all the usual ducks and geese including one goldeneye and roughly 80-100 fieldfare along the towpath.

A visit to Minsmere usually produces a good variety of birds, but
unfortunately Willow Tit is not amongst them! I'm afraid all of the
' black-capped' tits there are Marsh Tits.

My birding day
Had a good day birding today was at Wat Tyler in Basildon Essex saw Advocet,Shoveler,Teal,Wigeon,Greylag goose,Sparrowhawk, Black tailed godwit,Lapwing,Pochard,Starling,Blue tit,Great tit,Long-tailed tit,Moorhen,Coot,Cormorant. Then went onto my local patch and saw my 1st Mandarin and the 1st Fieldfare of the autumn,not a bad ...

Hi Bobby,
I enjoyed the read. Once again a great report & some nice species there including the seals. The Snow buntings must have been superb. Hilbre and the Dee Estuary never fail to please from a birding perpspective.

Birding Downtown Baton Rouge
My parents and I went down to Arsenal Park / Capitol Lake in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to look at ducks today. I'll post photos later. I just wanted to get everything down before I forgot.

Good Result today.........
Going to the pub (Turf) for a few ale when I found a Grey Phalarope in a puddle on the marshes !
Got some good photos before jumping on the bike (Avocet 'o wheels it's the best wader go ) and having an extra beer to celebrate.
It, and the puddle had gone two hours later.

Stretch-mark clouds scraping eastwards were leaving the blue - promise of a fine day. Spiders' dewy webs, steely mesh in tension, shifted. Jays and Magpies harrassing each other in the trees.
Further out the day's first Buzzard pushed gulls and Rooks off the field to circle and re-land. But the skies told the season....
