What I am finding is that older birders who have been doing this for years, generally have a lot invested in paper, or manual systems, and have been slow to adopt computerized systems, that can share data, such as the Swedish system mentioned in this thread, and e-bird. Here in the states, there seems to be a real shortage of younger birders, and it may have something to do with the inability of many more experienced birders to share their...

I don't know the program you refer to but I'd have a look on here first, I've used several of Gizmo's top tips without any bother. http://www.techsupportalert.com/pc/cleanup-tools.html you'll notice that your program isn't featured, I reckon that's because it's a scam to frighten you into buying the premium version of the program. Thank you for your replies to my question everyone. Delia that makes sense what you have said and I must experiment with replacing words now and see what I get now. Just another thing to use as MS Vista has been doing some funny things to my links at times. Just handy to know at the moment. Regards Kathy x

I think if I were starting today, I would use eBird alone for everything. I think ...

My understanding is that the Microsoft stuff is pretty basic protection and you are safer to get some third party stuff. These days the biggest danger of picking up nasties are the drive by stuff which you need proactive protection from which I don't think the Windows stuff provides.
