Right at the top of the reflux column where the pipe exits the column and heads toward the
condenser.

With jamesrl venturi and 1m (3ft)plumbers delight condensor using total loss
water cooling (cold tap runnimng to waste) ala GL, 170 litre whole batch demeth (WBD) averages 5LPH recovery rate. Vacuum recovery seems quicker from the recovery rates I've seen posted by Fabricator in the "demething whole batch (bio and glyc ) NO ACID" thread but I would like to see some comparison between GL system...

Washing with water will remove the excess methanol.
One water wash using about 40% by volume of water to volume of biodiesel to be washed should do nicely.

the majority of the excess methanol ends up in the glyc, but even with methanol in it can go jelly if it gets cold enough. approx 1/5 - 1/4 of it will be methanol, when it's demethed my glyc sets hard even in
warm weather.

keep reading.. I have posted pictures of my setup so have others. 190F isn't done..I seem to remember that done is closer to 240F, but most don't run that high or that long..I stop at 205F research
reflux columns... fan cooled radiators make great conedsers..that's what I use.. mine built from a water heater. methanol/glycerin mix will start boiling around 170 and go up depending on ration....

ski2liv, a couple of things to think about 170F pot temp is too low.. I run mine until the pot temp hits 205F. I would go higher but don't because the pump seal will not take it. if you using the HF or NT pumps don't go above 200F..you'll loose the shaft seals. inject air in the pot..either above or below the liquid. this help to force
the vapors out..reduces recovery time use a reflux ...

venturi I need to buy a vacuum pump to evacuate my AC for a full rebuild.. I saw this and wondered if anyone had any opinions about it. It's cheap enough I might just gamble anyway... I have a good air compressor already.
