You absolutely need good scales so that you do not go overboard on the NaOH. When I first started doing test batches a milennia ago I went out and bout me kitchen sales at the cheap and dime store. Measured out my NaOH and went at it only to find that I had a jar of very pretty green glop. I then figured I needed to not cut corners and bought a proper set of scales and discoverd that what I thought was 5 grams was actually 15 grams; they were...

You might have a torn filter element. Maybe that gunk was already accumulated in the fuel system and the biodiesel dislodged it. Could it be bits of degrading fuel hoses or fuel tank filler neck? Ken

Yes it happened to me after trying to reprocess a batch that was nearly a pass... I went over on the NAoH caustic and turned it all to gel. If you demeth it the soap will settle out and you will be left with good biodiesel. I posted my experience with gel HERE. Cheers, Jon

air, sunlight, copper, zinc all promote the first 2 stages of oxidation and peroxidation. The subsequent linking or crosslinking might be different (or not), but are known to occur at high pressures and temperatures.

quote: Pennsylvania State University Your climate is cold enough to cause problems with high melt point BD components precipitating out of solution and clogging fuel lines and filters. The amount of PHO and fats in the feedstock will have a lot to do with the cold temperature properties of the BD. One will likely find two phase BD at temperatures below 50°F.
