Try running the single diagnosis again. This could be a comms problem, the software is attempting to lookup an error code table (ME72_FEH.DXT) which may be incomplete, corrupted or not contain information on something the software has interpreted as an error code. Bad passenger sensor relates to an airbag sytem problem and could be seatbelt buckle, tensioner or occupancy mat related (depending on code identified).

so I got a code 176 in the ZKE module for my 99 e36 m3 but it didn't state what the error is, only the code number. I read that it is in decimal? and I need to convert it to hex in order to look that up in the codes list on the shared site? David, can you explain? -Brian

Although Iv'e been an embedded electronics software engineer I'm just starting to learn about the automobile diagnostics software/interfaces. Could you point me in the right direction for some "beginner" technical information regarding DCAN/MOST? I figured the car spoke CANBUS from the pinout but I don't know much about it. Also, regarding the "frying" I was referring to voltage levels rather...

Managed to get INPA/EDIBAS working. I was able to clear the airbag indicator in my E39. Also cleared the SES in my E53. Now I'm working on getting the DIS to communcate to the diagnostic head emulator. DIS sees the head, but I can't seem to make the connection as shown below. Any thoughts appreciated as I plug away.. I'm lead to believe that UK spec E36's don't have the OBD2 port in the car (at least I can't find any sign of it in my '99 328i). I've found a 20 pin BMW to 16 pin OBD2 lead on ebay, will this mean I can plug that in to the round 20 pin socket in the engine bay and end up with an OBD2 connector which I can then use in conjunction with a OBD2 interface and ...

Just got my INPA cable from China with INPA and EDIABAS on the disk. I'm trying to install without much success even though I'm a computer geek. Since there didn't seem to be any install program, I just unpacked the files and tried to run but got the API32.dll error so I poked around for API32.dll, found it in the EDIABAS folder and moved it into \windows\...

I just got an Equus Innova 3160 scanner so I could deal with some ABS lights on my wife's minivan, and I was wondering if one of these might work to help me tap into my '97 540i with a 5.2 DME. I was hoping that this might at least give me the ability to look at some live data, and see codes if they pop up: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BMW-2...205|240%...
