left (default), i never used commands init 5 or 6 and everything is working perfect. i just installed dis, configured networks, configured etc/hosts and then changed to fister (dis -> admin -> calibrating touch shield). so start over (i did 5-6 installations myself before i got it working) is your vmnet1 ip 192.168.68.1? look it up under windows network connections, also NAT should be disabled under vmware virtual network editor

On the later thinkpads, they didn't come with a physical com port. The T30 was the last to come with a physical com port AFAIK. I found that I could use a docking station to connect to the car as it is a real serial port.

For BMW , seems the GT1 will be better !
