mistake or no?

If you already bought it why ask other people if it was a good deal? I thought 53K was high until I saw the Convert part, but as long as you enjoy what you got that's about all you can do now. Somebody always will get a better deal.

06 330I engine is gone
Published (2009-12-04 22:05:00)
Well, it does reduce power, but does not shut engine down completely. Shutting the engine down completely could be dangerous because you loose power steering and brake boost.

335i vs IS 350 Cant Decide

I bought a CPO'd 335i which comes with a 3 year 100k mile warranty. I've only had it a few weeks and no problems so far, but anything that could go wrong with it is covered by BMW (mainly the HPFP). Did you drive them yet? That should be your first step, I know when I drove the 335 for the first time I was sold. Any car can have problems, but the performance and handling of it is just amazing.

BMW Extended Vehicle Protection...

Paul Yes, if you're the original owner, you can. I believe it's another 2 years / 50K. If you're not the original owner, you'll have to go with a 3rd party option (which isn't necessarily a bad thing, the BMW one isn't that great anyway).

Ride Height (330i)
Published (2009-12-04 13:18:00)
I checked my 06 330i without Sport and it measures 26 1/8". Quick Google search indicated that the same car with Sport package is lower by 15mm (0.6"). That in mind, factory height of your car should be ~ 25.5" to center of the fender (exactly what mryakan reported). Hope this helps.

What 335's have oil coolers?
Published (2009-12-04 19:43:00)
OK, just so I'm 1000% clear, red arrow #1 points to the oil filter housing, and arrow #2 points to the return line to the oil cooler. Right? My 2008's build date is 09/07, I have the Sport Package w/ 18" wheels, 160 mph (NOT 150, I checked), and AT. I assume I have the OC, but want to be sure. Thx!

Interested myself. I realize that the 6 speed is supposely faster, but I do live in SO CAL and the auto I test drove was pretty good.
It was quick and repsonsive, downshifts we're nice, but my only concern was if I had the ability to spin the rears with turbos waiting for the torque and an auto tranny...

The factory warranty expires after 4 years from original registration date or after 50,0000 miles whichever comes first and is transferable, i.e. goes with the car not owner.

Damn, that sucks. Yeah, a blown thermostat can be very problematic, especially if it happens while you are on the highway. Hopefully they will cover everything for you...I mean they should, thats the point of an extended warranty.

Just wanted to bring to your attention that this thread is for the sole purpose of introducing yourself and your new e9x to the community. Any questions should be posted in a separated thread. Ideally you should do a search and update an existing thread if a similar topic was discussed before, otherwise feel free to start a new thread. Questions here will most probably go unanswered.

Well you are in quite a pickle. My bro owns an IS 350 and it's a cool car...kinda 0.3-0.5s faster than my 335 from 0-60. But the turbo which kicks in above 40mph is wayy better on the pickup than the 350.
I love my 335, yea there are some slight electrical problems but as long as you check to make sure you are buying a solid car w/o engine problems, then you're golden. That's how I shopped ...

I think Fordman is probably right -- all cars are soon going to be so complicated that we backyard guys won't be able to do much with them. Heck, I know he's right -- I'm in my 60s, and I've seen this inexorable march toward complexity over every one of my 45+ years of driving, becoming exponentially greater after someone figured out how to add computer chips to the mix. Just think of the ...

Sounds like dealer BS to me. I've never heard other anyone having electrical issues due to driving only 20 miles a day........ I'd give BMW customer service a call and ask if there is some minimum miles required to drive per day for the car to still function. I bet the answer back is NO. Make sure you pass along the dealership and SA's name who gave you this excellent info to BMW when you ...

Is it possible to read the codes myself? I tried searching, but found nothing.. This forum is sorted different than other car forums i've used, so please forgive me.
Also, is there a problem with the search function? The dog loads, but nothing happens, then the page stops loading.

Agreed. Would not have spent $53K on a 328. I would have bought one that is a year old with 10-15K miles and saved probably $20K. This one year old 328 would likely be a CPO and carry an additional 2 yr or 50K mile warranty on top of the factory warranty. Low mileage CPO BMWs are far better buys than new........IMO
