Torque wrench advice...Microtoque
Published (2009-11-26 21:03:00)
I believe that is a 3/8" drive torque wrench. If you add a 1/2" drive torque wrench to your kit you will cover all the usual needs on an E30. As i recall the only fasteners not covered would be the crank bolt, wheel nuts, and drive shaft flange nuts (on trans & diff).

Question on tires...
Published (2009-11-25 21:04:00)
Hey guys, I just wanted to see what kind of tires you guys are rolling. I've got all mis-matched used tires on mine right now (PO apparently worked in a tire shop). I'm thinking about getting some Pirelli P5s to match the spare I got in the trunk (I think it's a really old P6 actually). Speaking of that, does anyone know what kind of tires originally came on an E30? Were they Pirellis? Thanks!

Adding fogs to an E30?
Published (2009-11-20 15:43:00)
Huh, for now since i'm low on cash, i like the fog blanks idea, maybe from there i'll add the actual fogs when I have money.

The things that need higher torque off the top of my head are hub nuts, crank bolt and lug bolts.

It was 99% chance that was nothing more than steam condensing in the cool morning air.

10-75 ft lbs will cover most things, but there are others that need higher torque.

I have Yokohama Avid H4S on my cabrio and W4S on my 535i. Same tread pattern but different speed ratings. They seem to be good all-around tires for daily driving. I'm not trying to set speed records on road courses with them mind you -- that's not what they are built for, nor what I was looking for when I purchased them. You need soft rubber that wears out fast for that.

Special tools huh? Lol. The only special tool I can think of is a 3 mm allen for the distributor rotor.
Go get your stuff from Pelicanparts or from autohausaz or bmaparts.

from everywhere I've read, if you put an "i" head on an "e" block you get very minimal gains over a regular old "i" car. But... if you put an "i" head on a "super-e" block, you're looking to be aroun 190hp.
again, this is just what I've read on here, E30tech, and a BMW tech I know is planning a buildup this way.
I also have a S-eta shortblock that I am planning on swapping into my ...

Were the replacement alternators generic reman units or a true factory rebuilt? Generic alternators are pretty much of a crap shoot and you may have to go through several to get one that works properly.
While a bad connection in the charging or primary power circuits would ordinarily be a possibility, I doubt that's the case here with what you've done. Consequently I'm more inclined to ...

Increased performance and a zero budget are totally incompatible concepts. If you want to play, you gotta pay.

I get compliments all the time, everywhere I go. I also get the a**holes who give me dirty looks, stares, cut me off and have no respect on the road all because I drive a BMW. Who cares what other people think though, as long as you enjoy your car thats all that matters.

My friend Ashton and I flew out to LosAngeles from Minnesota on Thanksgiving evening in 2006. Met up with my other friend Shane in L.A. and stayed the night, went to pick up the car on the next morning.
The car was an 88 325is. Lachsiber (or however you spell it) lowered with Racing Dynamics 5 spke wheels. Few other odds and ends. And I believe just shy of 200k.
