Yup. Anne (I'm assuming it's Anne Feeney you're talking about, Barbara) has toured with Dan during the best and worst of times. If anybody knows the man, it's she. OK. That's not how I've found him. Sorry about the typo, but I stand by my statement. Maybe DB feels out of his depth in the UK. It's great that he started doing political stuff, but actually the songs he recorded earlier were more poigniant. And yes, I even have his songs about the (football) World Cup. And the book. How sad is that? Should I sell it on ebay?

Not everybody is Uncle Bill. We get spoiled on here, and when a person acts normal it seems rude. I've heard both about Dan Bern, but my friend Anne who has a bullshit detector par excellence ADORES Dan Bern, and between her and Pam, it's good enough for me. I like his music. Isn't that enough for poor Dan, that he's doing his job?

I saw Jill Sobule supporting Billy a few years back. Have since seen her at the Beautiful Days festival and at a tiny gig in a church social club in Bristol - She is ace - a female Billy in her politics and poetry. I'd reccomend a listen.
