Re: Shanahan: "Excellent meeting;" "very impressed" with Brandon The Buffalo Bills are serious, and IMO they will land a big name coach. You make an offer like that and someone with a ring will take it. And I don't think we will have much competition at all. None of the other offers will be as attractive if you add in owner, how much real control they will have, whether there is a GM or not. The only...

Better than Jauron, but not good enough. I like how he wants the job, but in the end there are better options and I believe the Bills know that and will continue pursuing Cowher and Shanahan.

As you noted, I believe the Chicago job is the most attractive to any head coach if it opens up. Houston is definitely a wild card spot for Shanahan if Kubiak is let go, as well as Carolina for Cowher. The Chargers are making the playoffs for sure, and the Titans will finish at least 8-8 IMO (still haven't got a clue how they stumbled out of the gates).
Your absolutley right in the first 3 ...

I think a lot of the reporters are just speculating a bigname coach won't
come here because they would never want to live here.

GM must be the priority over Head Coach IMO
People forget that Shanahan running up a huge over the cap deficit whilst at Denver, whilst Cowher relied on first Donahoe and then Colbert to sign good free agents and excel in the draft. Seldom has a Head Coach acting also as a GM been effective.
We should sign a top up and coming GM, and then give him the latitude to bring in the best coach ...

A person familiar with the injury told The Associated Press on Wednesday that Wood isn't expected to return to Buffalo until Thursday after doctors deemed it necessary to keep the player under observation as a precaution. The person ...
