BTW, this problem is why I really liked the 200L Dinotte headlights I was using until this winter. They are mounted on rubber o-rings, and it allowed me to change the aim of the lights when I was on a MUP, or even turn one light off and leaver the other on. However, this winter I upgraded to a Dinotte 400L, which has a "hard" plastic mount; the aim can only be changed with a screwdriver. I have tried to make sure the 400L is...

Published (2009-11-01 23:13:00)
now that its winter till spring you've got to stay low and the days are short. 1) ride to portland via bremerton and the west side, and take train back. 2)Hood Canal Loop adding Port Townsend as 2nd night out if you want extra miles. 3) Port Townsend. hang out extra day because the town is so cool or ride whidbey as day trip from PT. 4)Port Angeles (Salt Creek county park is year round and very nice!) and return. 5)the San Juans, if you...

Thanks for the reply. 10mi (20RT) shouldn't be a problem on a bike. I suppose I'll find out how much smoking has killed my cardio. Starting next week if it isn't raining, don't run over the fat guy! ;-)

Recycled Cycles rents, but I think they only rent hybrids, not road bikes.
Whether it's a good time of year to go for a ride totally depends on your personal preferences. Last December we had snow, lots of snow from a West Coast perspective (laughable to anyone from someplace with real snow), so in that case I'd say yes, it's too cold and crappy to ride. Normally Seattle ...

I'd be surprised if the 5-0 wasn't waiting for him on the opposite side. There's a few bigarse signs before you get to the bridge, stating that pedestrians and bicycles are not allowed.

Have you moved here, or just visiting?
Pretty much any of the paved mountain passes would probably fit your bill - and the climbs around Mt Rainier - e.g Longmire to Paradise, Cayuse pass, Sunrise, etc.
Going a bit further afield, there's Washington Pass on the North Cascades Highway (RT20) on the way over to Winthrop, Hurricane Ridge over near Port Angeles, and the Mt ...

I toured the pacific coast, and we hit the bridge. The tunnels are a little scary before the bridge, as you put some lights on, hit a blinker, and ride as fast as you can through the tunnel.
We hit the bridge in the afternoon in drizzle. there is not much shoulder. it was pretty unnerving considering the traffic, height, lack of shoulder, and numerous dead seabirds on the...

Check out the Edgewater hotel ( http://www.edgewaterhotel.com/edgewater_home.aspx ). Its on the waterfront, close to the stadiums, access to the trails, and close to the nightlife and bars (Belltown area).
There's also the Seattle waterfront Mariott down the street from the Edgewater too ( http://www.marriott.com/hotels/trave...tt-waterfro nt/ ).
