Yeah...the allthread ain't gonna fly. My friend already got rid of the SS wheelset...I guess I could order a bolt-on conversion for my Hope Pro II 5.1d's I have on the Komodo and run the Revo's on the Komodo...but that sorta kills efficiency of the Komodo and the bombproof'ed'ness of the Flow. AAAARRRGH!

Ed, just a note on the allthread. I would be concerned, at that diameter, about tensile strength. Maybe consider it in grade 8?

Keep an eye out on www.chainlove.com . I've seen a couple different offerings by Titus show up with pretty significant discounts recently. Don't think either were carbon frames, though. Just my two cents.

You'll love the bike. The worst part will be the hate from the 26'' crowd.

This thread begs for a 'poll'. I prefer some nice, light full fingered XC gloves for trails. Something lightly padded...not too much like the Trek gloves. Fox is good. Thor is good. Has to breathe well for hot summer trail rides. I've gots some carbon-knuckled gloves for shredding, but they're about blown out. I'm prob. gonna get another pair for Urban.

Thinking of doing some roadie climbing/ century events on a 29'er. How do you XC guys train? Cross over to road events (particularly climbing events) on the 29'er make sense? I'm thinking of doing one in December just to get the feel for a long ride on a 29'er. Right now training is 70% road bike, the rest on MTB (mostly long climbs)....

The RockHopper is a pretty bare bones MTB. But frame size largely depends on the type of riding you want to do. Long swooping corners or bumpy twisty with stunts. Guys as big as you ride BMXs. But usually not very far. Go try it out. See if you can extend the seatpost far enough to pedal properly. Handlebar stems may be changed to stretch you out a bit, but if you go ...

Fixed. You have a poll now. At the times when I would find a reflector useful, I usually just hang a blinky taillight on my bike or hdration pack instead. I do like stealth reflectors, though - - reflective tape the same color as my frame. Stick it on in some key places and it doesn't stand out like a sore thumb.

Get chain tugs, I have them on my pista because everyonce in awhile when I didn't run them the bolt on axle would slip, plus it would allow for proper chain tension. Also, you may need to put something a bit more toothier inbetween the locking skewer and the frame.

I have a Redline Monocog Flight. It's a steelie 29er SS. If I'm not mistaken, it retails for less than $1000. There's also a non-flight version with different steel so it's a bit lighter on the wallet and heavier but I doubt you'd ever know on the trail. Check around for one of those.

So he's supposed to swap the parts out for free? What does he do with the parts he takes off? Give them to you for an extra bonus? Besides, you're getting a better fork and brakes for $55.

I don't think using just one side is beneficial. A combination is better for braking. However, one obtains more braking power through the front than the rear. It's hard to brake a bad habit like braking only in the rear as it won't throw you over the bars. But, particularly downhill, you'll be able to brake harder using the front.
