MLS doesnt need to be like europe, single table is so danm boring...... the current format is better structured and its alot more fun to watch when you have a underdog having the opportunity to win a championship. the SS is good only for regular season effort, thats it... but listen Eurosnobs! the season doesnt end on game #30 it ends at MLS cup when the winner is crowned.

Each time Garber re-states his position regarding single vs. conferences do we need a brand new thread rehashing all the same arguments?

I agree with you.
I guess one good thing about it, maybe, is that he took the time to talk about it.

When last I heard him speak on the subject his primary point was that he believes in having more "important" matches. Namely the two trophy-awarding conference championship matches. I guess he thinks the more things you can tack the word championship onto the better.
While generally in disagreement, I can see where he's coming from there, and find that we're really close to using a single-...

Tonight is Why MLS is Fun to Watch
I was cheering for LA, but seeing an underdog win the title was cool too. The talent may not be the best, but it is better than watching European soccer and some NCAA sports where you pretty much know who is going to be champion. I can't believe people actually watch the SPL....

The problem with MLS is that the American public doesn't like WATCHING soccer. They think it's boring. A lot of them like playing it though.
The NBA cap would help the disparity between teams but won't bring fans.

Hopefully mocking a French name will get him into trouble with the PC Police and perhaps warrant a firing. As for degrading the sport itself, he always has a free pass.

I like the idea of a neutral field. It allows for more time for ticket sales, and it also makes it easier to have more of an event since you can book hotels, conference space, etc. months ahead of time. If you award it to the highest remaining seed, you can't turn it into an event.

Kind of like the NCAA basketball play-in game. Interensting thought, I see nothing wrong with it on the surface except for possibly devaluing a playoff spot slightly by making it 9 of 16 instead of 8 of 16 making the playoffs, but that's not a big deal.
Of course you think the complaints about FSL making MLS Cup are bad now, wait until posters complain about a 9th placed team making it...

Biggest Blunders in MLS circa 1996
What are the worst things that MLS did in its first year or two of existence?
Ill list a couple that I can think of:
- Flintstones inspired designs for uniforms with jagged lines.
- Clock counting down.
- No Ties...shootouts.
- The Wiz.
- The Burn.
what else?...
