Cold air intake
Published (2009-11-09 18:46:00)
Waste of money, the OEM system IS a cold air system. Better yet the OEM air filter and intake has LOWER RESTRICTION than even a K&N! This is accomplished by using a larger surface area (10 times the area or more of an aftermarket filter) this allows less restriction and filtration down to less than 10 microns. K&N cannot filter effectively below 90-100 microns as a comparison and even then it has more restriction! After market...

Ball Joints or Bushings

I am leaning towards the ball joint. The squeaking when turning the wheels back and forth has been a symptom of ball joints in my experience going back to my shop days in the early 90s.

The Comfort/Sport status is visible in the dash display. Switch back/forth and you will see it. My wife and I went out for a drive this evening and she was anxious to get home in time for our Monday Evening "Dancing With the Stars" date, so she was keeping track of time. Which, of course , caused her to point out how remarkably DUMB it was for MB to put the clock in the dash all the way to the left in a hooded display And to...

Cold air intake

Look at yours--it probably has cold air intake from the factory. That is, the intake hoses go to just behind the grille. There isn't any air intake heating if that's what you're worried about.

Somehow I never had an issue to insert the key. Either the dome light helps me enough, or the muscle memory of my fingers do the job. The SUVs (R, ML, GL) have an additional instrument cluster menu for airmatic. Too bad they don't share the sw.

I can't get over the fact the back end of the 212 looks like a Honda Accord!
MB did great on the front end but the rear tail light screams Accord.

You need a scanner that can read the freeze frame data to see the conditions that were existing when the CEL was set. These misfire codes can be set for many reasons, i.e., air/fuel ratio, ignition faults, mechanical, etc. The first thing you may want to do is check all the vacuum lines to make sure you do have any leaks/defects.

Jeez, that sucks, and I don't think can be very cheap unfortunately.
I haven't heard of this happening with the 3.5L Motors (plus they're too new for us to know how true longetivity will be).

I just got an Autoenginuity package. It has the option for the basic ECU
reading and clearing, but also has the option for an enhanced interface.
Just got mine, with the enhanced, but haven't used it yet. Check their
website for info and pricing.

It's a write off, no insurance company will fix that.
IF the roof line has a single wrinkle the safety cage is compromized and cannot be repaired.

You just FUBAR'd your transmission!
Your entire transmisison, torque converter, cooling system and sump will need to be completely purged!
BG does not meet ANY GERMAN CAR MAKERS TRANSMISSION REQUIREMENTS!
To double up the Screw job you got MB does not require any external equipment to flush the transmission! The purge is done using the internal fluid pump by simply routing the fluid ...

I recently purchased a 2007 E350 4 matic with sport package following a quest similar to yours. I quickly discarded the Audi because I found it too bland and its reliablity is so so. I really had to choose between the BMW 530xi and E3504M. The BMWs were generally cheaper than the MB.
The BMW has a better drivetrain feel (engine, shifting), but this was its sole advantage (along with lower ...

The COMAND will display the the Nav if present.
You will have to retrofit the Harmon/Becker system with a DVD Nav drive in the back
of the car. If you are lucky it is prewired and you will just need the drive and mounting
hardware. Then a trip to the dealer to update the firmware for both the COMAND and
the Nav drive if you get the latest Nav DVD. You will have to add the GPS antenna.

Yep. It's likely the result of a very common problem. There is a known issue with a leaky sensor. MB *might* warranty it if you ask nicely.
If not, I doubt it would be very much. I think it's a pretty inexpensive part and about 10 minutes of labor.
