43sqd is right on. That blend actuator has failed. Then there is always the way I did it after Detane posted his fix. It saved me a full day. You will need a new actuator before attempting this. http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w163...end-motor.html

Correct. Witek says that only the 8-cyl is affected. Can't remember which yours is. Even so, 50000 of all 8-cyls between '99-'02 the odds are in your favor.

thats all i will be using is the MANN filter. what i did was insert the filter on the stem first then look down the cap and line up the slots and press fit it in the cap till you hear a click. the valve in the top of the stem has slots on it like a medicine bottle that you push down and twist to lock it in place if anyone else on here has what they think is a broken filter stem send it to me along with all the parts including new filter and o...

When the engine dies, does it do so all at once or does it sputter just before, as a fuel problem? I do not have any other suggestions, but you might want to consider inspecting your fuel pump. At least 2-3 members have experienced this.
