The smell you're describing also could be exhaust fumes. My exhaust fumes smell kinda like anti-freeze a little bit for a little while before the CAT warms up.

Could be so many things -e.g. dirty mass airflow sensor. Codes is the place to start, build the code reader, read the codes yourself, try a search.

Further research has obtained information from another forum. Looks like the culprit could be leaky injector(s) causing fuel vapor in the system or the fuel accumulator. I ordered parts from autohausAZ and will update you guys hopefully soon.

M117 is an easier swap since it uses mechanical fuel injection.
What was done with the SRS light once the airbag was removed, just took out the bulb? The LSD is probably from a 2.3-16v 190E.

I had a similar problem which was related to the microswitch in a front door lock. It seems that to make sure that you don't lock the door when it is open (heaven forbid) the central locking system will unlock it when you try to lock it. You can try to lock it and it will energize the locking circuit that will immediately pressurize the system to unlock it. This will even happen if the door is...

What I do, when starting any of my cars, is to hold the key in the "ON" position for a few seconds, then turn it to the start position.
Holding the key in the start position activates the fuel pumps and pressurises the fuel system, ensuring easier starts. I never have to crank for more than a second. Usually its a split second.
As for what the cause of your problems may be, I really don't...

To prevent burning out fuses and fuse boxes, Mercedes moved the climate control blower control fuse from fuse box #12 to a remote location and upped the fuse from 16 to 25 amps. I've seen older Volvo's with this fuse blown and the fuse box melted around the fuse holder. "#12 In-Line Fuse" is the big (strip?) fuse in the plastic thing in front of the fuse box.
The other little box looks like...

Do I need to point out that it is now time for you to seek a second opinion, preferably from a transmission shop.
Most general repair shops do not engage in actual transmission work. All they are really prepared to do is remove it and replace it with a rebuilt transmission. I expect that they are a fine organization, but for this situation, you need a competent transmission shop.
