I'm curious about this now, too. If you're in the north 40 like a few of us, you aren't driving it in the very cold weather anyway, so what would you want it for? If you are middle to southern states, then I guess I can see it for those chilly mornings when you take off WUTUHO, then switch to WDTD for the afternoon drive home. I went home at lunch and grabbed Lady Blue, BTW Bandit

Ship spare set of factory rims to be powder coated Beg for warm weather to return so I can get back to driving it full time instead of driving one of the other projects.

. Rowdie is referring to the MB-USA Electronic Parts Catalog . With the free membership you can look up VIN specific parts for your car. You do need a credit card for verification, but there is no charge for US residents.

1. The cam timing marks are "close", but not exact.
2. If the tensioner is not working properly (if you are hearing that noise, this is probably true), you can't really get even a "close idea" because the marks are correct only if there is tension between the gears. If the tensioner allows the RH gear (on the left side of the car as you look at it from the front) to lean a little clockwise (...

On the other hand. Did I say hand? She should let her hair down and go with you. Promise her the stars and a nice dinner. Don't promise her the MOON. She has probably seen that.

Hey, Rowdie, got a picture of the burlwood knob you purchased? Specifically, does it have the shaft or is it just a knob? My 450 SEL had the shaft and it was quite easy to install. Been so long, I can't remember but it was a snap back then....hopefully someone else can help out with the installation.

1. Normal.
2. Not normal. Could be modulator valve.
3. Kind of normal for any SL they are not monsters off the line. More of an autobahn cruiser.
4. Bad. Slipping, failing? When was the last time the fluid and filter were changed?

No it was originally back and supposedly repainted white by AMG at original purchasers request.
I am very disappointed that the only paperwork in the vehicle was an owner's manual. The shop owner referenced paperwork (one of which was an AMG invoice or work order I think) and when I called him about it yesterday he thought it was still in the car. He was going check to see if it had been ...

I hate to shake hands and then immediately whine about my problems, but I am going to do it anyway.
