I have to fold. The 6 doesn't have all those options. Bet the 4 does not have the optional glove box security.

I'm in. Never said having the SL off the road would hold me back. No pain no gain. Has a place been picked yet? Sounds like you and perhaps Roncallo would be coming the longest distance. Cold Springs is not far off of I84, I think that might work for Roncallo. And if you come up the Taconic you can get off at rout 301 and take that into Cold Spring. Unless you have another place in mind. Not sure how far you want to drive.

You can run your VIN on the Russian website or simply look on the front of the passenger side of the engine bay for the unit.
No secondary fuel pump. Hard start could be the cold start valve or the fuel pump relay. Fuel pump should run for a few seconds when you turn the ignition on then it runs when cranking and engine running. No pumping should be needed.
How is it on hot starts?

Went for a drive, no flashing turn signals. Thought for a moment, switched emergency flashers on-off a couple of times, signal flashers began working again.

No it was originally back and supposedly repainted white by AMG at original purchasers request.
I am very disappointed that the only paperwork in the vehicle was an owner's manual. The shop owner referenced paperwork (one of which was an AMG invoice or work order I think) and when I called him about it yesterday he thought it was still in the car. He was going check to see if it had been ...

Fochmann, are you keeping the AMG side skirts?
When you say AMG basket weave, can I assume you mean BBS basketweave? These were not AMG, or even Mercedes specific. Do you know if they are RS (3 piece) or RA? A set of good quality RS rims (read restored and polished) are worth upwards of 2000 Euro, and I'm sure they are worth a lot in the US as well (though maybe not as much as in Europe)

Not enough to go on in those pictures. If it is a six cylinder engine it is likely a 280SL Euro model.

I believe that the tensioners are oil pressure sensitive, so If you dont
drive the car for a while, you will hear that noise at start up for a
second until the oil pressure builds up. When you start the car up multiple
times and often, the oil has not bled down yet, so you shouldnt hear
anything.

For my 560SL I couldn't find the right plugs locally so I used Bosch Platinum +4 from Pep Boys. I got ripped a new one on all the forums for using these things yet the car did a 15.075 second 1/4 mile and can outrun the published gas mileage. When it was time to change the plugs again 30,000 miles later I went and ordered plugs from the Dealer at about $8.00 each. They are still able to get them ...
