I see that nobody responds. Sorry but for that you need to take car to a transmission repair facility. It needs to be opened up, to evaluate. $$$ I think that one of your valves is not functioning. Regards. aam.

Lowering the R129 non-hydraulic...
Published (2009-11-08 11:11:00)
The handling is improved by the stiffer springs and better shocks, which eliminate body roll. The lowering thing is for looks. Which I get, and think does look good, but only to a point. You don't want to look like one of those Camino's with air suspension and neon lights either. An inch or so of lowering looks great, beyond that it gets too low for my tastes. This latest one is just too low to be practical, you're going to be...

M137 Engine Swap
Published (2009-11-07 04:28:00)
Roncallo is right: if you decide to go for the M120 you would be better off selling yours and go for an SL600. As for the M137 I honestly can't see a reason why you should go r that engine and to be very honest with you I can't really see a reason why Mercedes produced that engine first thing. Actually compared with the other V12 they produced that engine seems lame. If you really want an engine from that e you might want to consider...

Replacing Timing Cover
Published (2009-11-08 08:06:00)
Winter is the best time for me to drive it Summer in the A/C'd garage is when to work on it. This is just kind of a Pandora's box. Every time I start into something it becomes a question of how deep do I want to go into the hole. I mean I could just TIG back on the broken pieces from the timing cover and stick my head in the sand and hope nothing else is wrong. Or I can brave it out and peel back the next layer in this puzzle. My...

What is the suggested vs. real-world usage of a drop, and how is it done? Is that something that helps the cornering and the balance, or does it just look better and provide tire rub? Looking for the future.

_S3C_ not to disrespect your project of your ideas but I can just imagine the amount of air vortex that would kill your neck in say 5 minutes at 30 mph.
As for the visual impact we should ask for some photoshop experts.
Also I presume that cutting such an important part of the hard top might alter the structural integrity of the hard top itself.
Cheers.

You got everything almost right.
Time about 25 hrs.
While you there you may want to replace the chain and guides.
Be very careful when you install the cover, (brakes easy.)
Nice to re thread the bolts and tap the holes.
Have bags to put parts in, and label them.
Take pictures.
You will have to lift the engine in order to remove the oil pan gasket.
Remove a/c compressor but ...

no big surprise if the terrain is totally flat with no hills using cc.
i posted pics of sls amg rollout in sedona, az a few weeks back and commented that i got about 25 @ 75-80/cc and that's climbing from 1400 msl where i live to 5k in sedona and back.
granted, coming back was mostly downhill but still a lot of long pulls with the mpg gage on the right side up to sedona.

On strut mounts Meyle is good but I don't think that you need to replace them yet.
I didn't replace mine.
If they are not cracked why replace, but again........
Chris, you have self leveling suspension, so dealer only for some parts,

Since my 2000 SL500 has a glossy black metal finish MB Windstop I'm going to assume that all MY 00-02 R129' came with a glossy black finish except the Silver Arrows.
I'm trying to figure out what year they changed the black finish so please tell me:
What 99-90 year and type of finish you have?
Is it a glossy or satin black metal finish?
