CAR STALLS
Published (2009-11-25 20:45:00)
It happened to me as well. I was at the shop for clearing airbag code and while pulling out on the first intersection the engine sputter. Turned out MAF gave up at that very moment, but the shop got some name calling in my mind. Start with checking the codes.

I have a different model so can't be of much help. You have what MB calls a W208 and there is a dedicated forum for those. Look in the Coupe section by scrolling down from here.

Asymmetric wheels - why?

S Class and Internet
Published (2009-11-23 11:37:00)
Which S-class do you have? By the way, I've never heard of a command unit on an S-class or any Mercedes. You could do it with a car computer (or a cell phone with video output) and use the Comand screen via AUX video or TV AUX but I don't see any easy way to avoid an external keyboard and mouse.

What wheel spacers do you...
Published (2009-11-25 12:55:00)
While it's true the hubcentric feature locates the wheel, the lug bolts still have to hold it on, and consequently they must match the wheel. Anything made for folks with stars in their eyes and their head in the clouds will be expensive. This describes "spacers" for sure.

Oil consumption question - Page...
Published (2009-11-20 16:54:00)
Thanks for all the advice and opinions. It is going to the dealer on Monday, they think the noisy lifter is caused by a broken tube or line that injects oil on the lifter. They want to open it up and check. There are no oil leaks, the engine is dry, and no smoke or excessive residue in tailpipes. I will keep you posted. Any other input would be appreciated.

722.9 transmission disassembled...
Published (2009-11-23 17:08:00)
i am not sure what kind of units the fill pressure and fill time are in, but i do know that the specs are as i said before, -20 to+20 for fill time and -2000 to +2000 for fill pressure. I don't think i have ever seen a 722.9 transmission where the fill pressure was at the positive or negative limit, i am not sure what would make it be at the limit, maybe a leaking piston. By the way these values are simply calculated, since there is...

Regular Coolant in the reserve
Published (2009-11-24 17:48:00)
The cooling system is a SEALED system. There should be no need to add any coolant. If you are adding coolant, there is a leak in the system that must be fixed ASAP.

What does that mean? Are you trading a newer model for an older model with a bigger engine? What suggestion would you like us to make?
By the way, if you are using "text language shorthand," stop it.
If English is not your first language, let us know that so we can make an effort to help you tell us what you want to say.

Start with a rust bubble in less visible spot and scrape off loose material. If there is no hole, priming with rust converter and than touching up with original paint will do.
If the body has holes, it will cost more to fix it than car value.
Go to W210 section where the subject belongs and take a look of our member -Insaneme dealing with his rust bucket.

It could be as simple as a dead battery. I'm sure you aren't still on the original battery, so there may be no charging system problem at all, just a battery replacement. You may also have a closed switch somewhere that is draining the battery (interior lights, parking lights....). Don't go changing stuff until you have the battery load tested. If it's good under load, check for closed ...

Car seating for 12 years very likely has some corrosion on the cylinders, so can't expect consistent compression for some time. Your test shows something, what is a good sign.
I would very carefully spray some starting fluid for diesels to see if it will fire up. Overdoing the fluid can damage diesel.

What you mean asymmetric?
Different sizes on front and rear? That is called staggering and is taken from racing, where rear, drive wheels are wider for better acceleration.
Directional tires are sale pitch IMHO. No use for average driver.

Seems you are doing it right. Keep fiddling. Your elex wire to the mirror lamp isn't holding you back is it? If so you may have to disconnect.

Stop driving so much. 20k miles per year is excessive. Move closer to your
job or move your job closer to you.

Hi
It could possibly be your MAF from what I have picked up here on other threads. Read through this - it should suit your M112 V6 engine.

Most people here buy the MitiVac but I don't know how those differ from the one you are considering. Check the website or contact Pela to see what they say.

Your mileage won't be as much as you want, either.
The USA is filled with oil change geniuses like you, and that's why Mercedes, VW, BMW, etc. REDUCE the recommended oil change intervals for vehicles they sell in the USA. Yes, Mercedes running the specified (this means required, not "recommended") motor oil are scheduled at around 19K miles for oil changes everywhere else. You'll note that ...
