Stainless Steel barrels?
Published (2009-11-29 13:05:00)
From the description of your barrel spec, you're not going to be firing strings with 1000 yard projectile weights. If, as I've surmised, you're only going to be firing a shot here & there, then throat wear shouldn't be an issue to you. F class shooters expect to get 800-1400 rounds of close to ½ MOA accuracy from a barrel, firing 15 shot strings & sighters - say an average of 950 rounds. Calculate out how...

Yu would have to call them and ask. It looks vary much like the old Remington single shot, not the falling block, but the Hepburn. Vary nice looking single shot action.

Hi Dennis. Though not an on-road donorcycle rider, I'll suggest from Anacortes on Hwy 20 over the North Cascades Hwy, spend the night in Winthrop or Twisp (watch out for the deer on the road in the morning and evening!) or even farther if you're making good time, then south on Hwy 97 along the Columbia R, over Blewett pass and through the Bristol Canyon to Ellensburg, down the Yakima R canyon (bighorn sheep), and on down to Shaniko...

Donald, Frank Green,Bartlein Barrels, said the CM was just as good in all respects as stainless. You can have your stainless barrel treated with QPQ and if it is polished, it will look like a deep blue, black Weatherby blue. Butch

We opted for a Whataburger instead of Turkey on Thursday. We drove up to San Antone yesterday from Mission. Kept trying to see the Rio Grande but gave up just past Mission and headed North. We did see the porus fence and called it good enough! Great roads here! I have seen only about 5 pot holes in 900 miles or so and they weren't deep enough to call pot holes. Another real nice thing is under the bridges of the major roads there is a...

Tomball Gun Club is about a mile or so into the woods off of a semi-paved, (dirt) road. If you are the first one through the first gate in the early morning, you darned near have to "shoo" the deer off the road. Last year, we even had a doe and a yearling walk out on the range down at 200 yards. We had to call a cease fire and run them off...........jackie

Probably 2 things, probably more than that, most accuracy minded shooters like about stainless barrels. First the best of the best barrel makers make and sell them. Second what I like is that they clean up well to keep you on target shot after shot.
Gunsmiths like them for several reasons. I'll let them come in on the subject.

I recall an extensive discussion of this subject a year or so ago; don't remember which forum. The solution at that time was to use vertical baffles on either side of the firing position. It worked better than any other device to attenuate the sound. I don't think anything can be done about the supersonic crack. As I recall, a roof over the firing position causes high sound level for the ...

Cleaning brass can be done with acids or ammonia. However, both of these attack the brass chemically and will eventually weaken the brass. Some use vinegar which like lemon juice is acidic. Lemon juice contains citric acid, acetic acid, and other fruit acids. I do not wish to weaken my brass which is under thousands of pounds of pressure so I just clean with corn cob and wash with a safe cleaner....

I just talked to Dave yesterday. His website is currently down and he is working on getting it back up and running. You'll have to contact him directly through his phone or e-mail. If you do not have this information contact me and I'll get it for you.

What a terrible way to go to be eaten alive.
There is no doubt that the Montana Fish and Game has ruined the hunting in Montana by reintroducing the wolf to Montana.

Great idea.
I'll dig out my family tree it has many interesting stories going back to the Colonial times.
Some of the Civil War era stuff would put Clint Eastwood movies to shame.
