Beltre can't get on base, he's only been a good offensive player one year in his career (and not in the past four years). I'm not a Beltre fan. He's better than Feliz, but he's not good. Just say no to Beltre, please.

Liz claimed by pads

Well maybe he meant for him to claimed (even though it sounds dumb) so Johnson could be on the 40-man and avoid the rule 5 draft.

IMO, only to a point. Tillman goes out there a half a dozen times and pitches through 7 with a lead only to have it blown by some mediocre misfit, it's gonna wear on him. Lose enough and it will have an adverse effect on the whole team as well. Him saying that wins don't matter to a young pitcher is bull cookies. That BS of wins don't matter is a crock that's been overflowing within this organization for years. From...

Shhh! The guy throws almost 100 mph. If the Padres like Liz, they should love Sarfate! He should be an integral piece in any trade for Adrian Gonzalez, shouldn't he?

Do you think Andy MacPhail will make it into the HOF as an executive when he retires like his father Lee and grandfather Larry?

=) He could help the community of Baltimore by going somewhere else and being a bad pitcher.

The "mediocre misfit" could be any one of the F/A pitchers that were signed three years ago for over market sums of money. His/My thoughts are to see if Koji, Johnson, Ray, etc.. from within may very well be the option that would be to the clubs advantage. Without evaluating if they can or cannot do the job may leave us with all of their 40 man roster spots as being a waste . I would prefer them to "Waste"...

I read some stuff recently by MacPhail that he values closers fairly significantly. That's certainly contrary to what a lot of us might think on here. But he believes it and that's what counts. I would not be surprised at all that we get Wagner. I'd guess he's our primary and most realistic FA target right now.

I'd like for those things to happen too. I like Beltre at third though. He can hit and has a great glove. You are not going to get Lackey for 55 mil though. He will command a contract for at least 5 yr 85 mil. I like taking a chance on Harden, although Bedard would be all right too.

Last I heard they don't get to elect what team they go in as. It is chosen for them based on the team they played with the longest.

I'd like to get him. He would be a good 3rd or 4th starter. My first choice is Bedard.

Nobody the Royals signed is significant As for Jones, he can't even bat his weight and that is increasing each year.

He's the kind of guy that it's worth taking a shot with. but for us we've got enough arms that are succeding where it doesn't make much difference. However I had hoped he would work out.

"He has a career .394 on-base percentage in the minor leagues" Yup I read this too. Don't get me going, I don't want to regurgitate my dinner. "We have a roster spot for the backup catcher guy but not this guy" I don't get that either. Catcher of that quality should be a dime a dozen. "If we're not going to land Nick Johnson and we're spending money elsewhere (read: third base and starting pitching), we could do a whole lot worse than a Duncan/Aubrey platoon at first base while we wait for Snyder." I was just going to start the same thread but you beat me to it...lol.......... Anyway, sure why not. He could be an inexpensive but yet productive answer to our first base ...

Tejada's power numbers have come down signficantly. He lost a step at SS about 3 years ago. My guess is Tejada burnt enough bridges when he was here that he's not considered very favorably by management. Not to mention the other issues with his age and steroids etc. I wouldn't necessarily mind Tejada on a one year deal at third base, but I don't see it happening. As far as Bedard is ...

Patience, grasshopper, patience. MacPitcher will make no decision until it's past time to do so. In that way and that way only, can the junk piles be full, ready and ripe for the picking.
