Need help

I don't really thing a divider made out of cardboard or foam board would work. It would absorb humidity out of the air and would just get nasty once the snake used the bathroom. I think putting the snake in a 15qt tub for the first year is a good idea. It might look small to you but the snake really doesn't mind. They like tight enclosed spaces. They aren't really the kind of snakes to just lay around outside their hides. Sounds...

Just don't go ape with them, not that it will hurt the snake. It just becomes a pain when you have to clean all that stuff. You'll love the cage!

How are you keeping the snake? What did these "odd shaped bugs" look like? The more details you give us, the easier it will be for us to help you with your problems. Your friend, Mike

Helix Question
Published (2009-11-22 22:21:00)
Ok what is the max wattage you can run off a single helix unit? Anyone know? Also lets say is 100, i know its more but for the example lets say it is. If i have flex watt that is 10 watts per a foot, then i can run 10 feet of that of a single helix unit safely, correct?

What Kind Of Bedding Do You Use?...

Re: What Kind Of Bedding Do You Use? Cypress Or Aspen? I use aspen at the moment. But I might switch to newspaper. Does it stain your snakes? I know I tried it before with an albino kingsnake and he didn't stay "white" for long. __________________

I recently moved all of my snakes into hides(1 red tail boa and 7 balls) I do notice that they are a bit more mobile and tend to hide less.... I personally am watching who uses their hides and who doesnt thinking of taking them out of the ones that dont use them. They seem to feel more secure in the tubs. PS Love my apbt's also...

What kind of "gauge" are you using? The snake should feel pretty warm if it is sitting on a 90-92 degree hot spot. I get more consistent temps putting the probe over the heat tape outside of the tub, + you don't lose a tub for a probe. I also LOVE my temp gun

That setup looks awesome! The only problem is that, from what I've read on the forums, is that ball pythons are not arboreal, meaning they don't climb in trees (or really any climbing in general). Their bodies simply aren't built to climb. Building a structure for your python to climb on could result in an escape or a pretty bad fall . From what I've read, I ball python that is trying to ...

Wait and see after a few more times he defecates to see if it still looks the way it does. Sometimes when a snake drinks water and keeps its head down right after it drank the water will sometimes come out of the mouth. If he was dewormed I don't see how this could happen again unless he has worms again. I would check on the other snakes as well just in case they may have worms in their feces ...

If your room is 30-32*c then NO heating element will be required unless nights are colder. But if you can maintian that temp all day then you will not need to add heat. Some breeders dont offer a cool side but offer a whole temp of 88-90.

There's nothing wrong with a 3x2 cage ... Just understand the the larger the enclosure the more difficult it becomes to heat properly and the more difficult it becomes to provide your ball python with the security that it needs. But, if you're willing to spend the time and do the work, your snake can have a great life in a large enclosure. All of the manufacturers that you listed are ...

Here is a chart for sizing! http://www.reptileforums.co.uk/feede...ize-chart.h tml I do think you are getting ripped off! I get rat pups (25 grams) for $1.50 and small rats (60-70 grams) for $2.25! If it was me, I would make the drive to get the better quality feeders! Good luck!

If you mean ball pythons by they then heres what advice ive got. Yes ball pythons can live in 30 gallon aquariums but the custom enclosure you want to build would be much better. Splitting the 4x2 cage in half would be great for two bp's. But a word of advice, dont make it 2 feet high. Your bp wont climb and it'll just make more space you have to heat. And with bp's bigger is not ...

Try putting aluminum tape on the outside of the screen. Cover about 3/4 of the screen. That will help trap heat and humidity. Also, insulating the sides and back of the tank ith dark foam core board will help hold temps a bit better.

Excellent post, BG! When I first got into ball pythons, I started researching for exotics vets, and I made inquiries to my local herp society as well as to the Atlanta Zoo Reptile department asking for their recommendations on a vet in my area. All of my replies led me back to one particular veterinarian who only treats exotics. Knock wood, I've not had to use him, but you can bet he's programmed...
