It is glass with a screen top; no latch or lock so i keep my biology textbook on the corner. See picture at bottom. For a snake that size, that tank will be fine for a little while longer. There are many reasons why BG thinks they can be a problem, but they can be needed for feeding issues. __________________ You're gonna hate me till you love me. Is a Hide Necessary in a Tub?
Published (2009-11-12 17:44:00)
Re: Is a Hide Necessary in a Tub? Alright well then i'm going to walmart to pick out some dark plastic bowls or something and put a hide. The tubs i have are tiny neither BP is more than 140g so there wont be much floor room in the tub with the water dish and hide. Is this going to be a problem? __________________ 1.2 Ball Pythons: 1.0 Albino Ball 0.1 Spider Ball 0.1 Normal Others: 1.1 Pomeranian's 0.2 Dumbo Rats

Re: Feeding problem, won't eat
Sounds like he has a stuck eye cap, it should go away with the next shed.
Try feeding him in his home enclosure at night when he is in his hide. If you can, blast the f/t rodent with a hair dryer for a bit before offering the prey item. Use the dryer right by the cage, it pre-scents the room so the ...

Re: Flexwatt
I don't know much about flexwatt but if you buy foil tape from your local hardware store(in the heating section), you can use it to hold your uth on the tub! Works great!

Problem with very young YB not eating
Ok, I recently got a lovely little female YB ball at a show near my house. Paid a decent price for her, and I trust her breeder.
We gave her a week after she came home to settle in, then offered her a f/t hopper mouse, since she was still pretty small. She wanted nothing to do with it....

How's this setup?
I am looking to purchase a juvenile Ball Python from my local pet store (probably Petsmart), and I was hoping to get some feedback on the setup I am looking at before I proceed:
From Petsmart also: 20-Gallon Long Aquarium
Secure lid
From BigAppleHerp.com: Zoo Med ASPEN Bedding
Quat Plus Cleaner,...

I've got a Pastel he has ate rats just fine for me but every once in a while he refuses them so I rub mouse shavings on them and he nails them every time. I'd try rubbing a mouse on it to see if it makes a difference.
Also do you tug the rat a few times to simulate a live rat? It fools them into thinking its alive and seems to stimulate them more.

So I bought a ball python recently on a longterm payment plan (about 3 months). I had been hoping to breed her for the '10 season considering I breed very late in the year. Anyway, when she arrived today she weighed less than the advertised weight three months ago. I contacted the breeder and she said ...

Stargazing
This morning my Bp had his head and about 6 inches of his neck is an S shape vertically looking straight up against the glass of his tank. He did this for maybe 20 mins before I got him out to see if anything was wrong. This was the first time he did that, and he has been eating and shedding normally. He also has been ...

nervous about live feeding
I've had my bp for a few weeks now and wednesday will be the third time feeding him. I keep hearing that it's bad to feed live to your snake, especially since he's still just a little guy, because there's a chance that the mouse will fight back and could hurt him. I was thinking about maybe feeding him ...

Re: Why Do they like Cold so much??
I'm not sure I got what you were exactly asking for but hopefully this will help.
Ball pythons thermoregulate. This is why we need to provide them a warm side and a cool side. You warm side should be between 90-94 degrees and your cool side should be between 80-84 degrees.
It is normal for ...
