My vote goes for the Black Seal rum with eggnog and a bit of nutmeg or cinnamon on top. When I was a kid, my dad would let us have one glass of eggnog with rum on Christmas Eve. (It was more like a drop of rum, but when you're a kid it's still a big deal.) Brings me back to those days every time I have one.

First bottle of Maraschino Liqueur

Now that sounds like a winner. Just need to get a bottle of orange bitters. You'd think that the places carrying the original Angostura would be carrying the orange by now but none that I can find. Thanks for the suggestion. Quote: Originally Posted by Scotto Fancy Free Cocktail: 2oz bourbon 1/2 oz Maraschino Dash of Angustora bitters Dash of Orange bitters

I just bought 4 bottles of Private Reserve Ink. I was drawn to Private Reserve because of their large variety of colors. So what do you think? Have you used this brand before?

Time to switch up on Whiskey

Irish whiskey is triple distilled, Scotch only once. The Scotch got it right the first time. Seriously, I like Jameson Crested 10, but in a pinch the Dew will work. Not as much a fan of Bushmills.

I will have to try this. Ive only had Bushmills and Jameson's Irish whiskey and I usually drink Bourbon, but Im all for trying new things. Might have to also try the Fecking Irish whiskey too.

Excellent juice. As an everyday ink, PR works better for me than Noodler's. My Pel 805 is filled with Cosmic Cobalt at present.

OMG, I spent an evening with the Highland Park 12 and was enchanted. Even the smokiness was seductive. And I realize that I have a lot to learn about paying close attention to all of the aromas and flavors. Also, the Redbreast is amazing. I think that I have bought my last bottle of any of the Jameson's now that I have experienced the Redbreast. Next month, it is on the the Aberlour and the Cragganmore. This is wonderful. Thanks for all...

I had a friend who went to Pratt Institute of Art in NY, and one of the times I went down to visit him he took me to a place called Junior's. I had never been before, and I've not yet returned, but damn was it a good cheesecake. Can't wait to see some of the recipes that get posted, I've been wanting to try to make one for a while but never got around to it.

Right now, I'm about about 5/6 of the way through The Promise by Chaim Potok. I've been on it for a couple months, but a day or two I decided I needed to finish it and have really buckled down and finished the majority of the book. This novel is the sequel to The Chosen and is an excellent novel (as is The Chosen ). I highly recommend it, both for the religious debate and the ...

1. Overtly avoid anything with a dead insect floating it it. Mezcal (some brands) is fantastic stuff. It's to Tequila what brandy is to Congac or sparkling wine is to Champagne. The 'worm' is a crappy company's marketing ploy to try and get people to buy their disgusting product. I'd be skeptical if you could find it in Oz, but Del Maguey's Mezcals are fantastic. I relearned how to write not too long ago. I used a different system (Write Now! University of Oregon press). It was actually easier than I expected. It does take some time to fully take hold and become truly natural. However, it can be done. I think FPs take away some of the short cuts and sloppiness that we develop over time. I don't think a FP will impart the ability to write well; ...

Ed, we need to get together again. You may have me beat on the beer front, but I've got some scotches you need to try. HP12 is eminently accessible and a great choice for a "first" scotch. If you're interested in branching out into Islays, I'd recommend Lagavulin for your second bottle. Great balance of smoothness and peat.
