I have heard people suggest clear nail polish I have heard of that with Simpsons on TSD.

Reknot questions

Since you don't have a lot of options in the 18mm range you'll have to work out how deep the knot hole is. Assuming it's at least 10mm 20mm x 64mm Silvertip Grade A knot - Loft will be: 54mm 18mm x 54mm Best badger hair knot - Loft will be: 44 mm Of course now you have the soft Silvertip at higher loft, vs not so soft Best at lower loft...... If it's deeper ( my Kent was 19mm ) Then Silvertip 45mm Best Best= 35 mm Is there...

I will be working with Phil, who has already contacted Simpson's for me to see what we can do. I may even get a KH1 (Keyhole) with 2 band super as replacement instead of the XL2 since they're the same price. That's not certain though, since Simpson's hasn't answered back yet....

I bought this same brush and although I have 3 others, this is the go to everyday brush! And of course it was by far the most affordable. I wish I had bought 4 penworks brushes in varying sizes instead... hmmm, ...

Perfectly normal. If it turns into 6-7 hairs per shave for several weeks then the brush probably has permanent issues.
Almost every brush I have shed a few hairs at first and then calmed down. I am no expert but my guess is a lot (or most) brushes have a few hairs that are not as well glued-in and come out when you start using them.

I've got six. I included badger brushes I don't really use, but did not include a boar brush I do. Am I just in denial?

My untrained eye says left to right, a handful of Ever-Ready's, a Surrey (VDH) and an unknown. Untrained being the key word.

I've had 6 Plisson's from the grey to the HMW - and the short answer is no. They're nice, and they're different, but they're wildly overpriced.

Gorgeous. I prefer a knobbly end to grab onto, but I'd have to hold it before knowing whether it'd be uncomfortable. Lovely work.

Just a quick comparison of the effect of loft versus density as there seems to be an influx of people reknotting old brushes.
Not a very scientific work but hopefully you get the idea.
How far into the knot hole you place your knot will effect the loft of your knot and also the density.
General rule of thumb here is that if you face lather or use soap then you want a shorter loft and ...
