I can't seem to buy a Senator. Missed on two more just today! (Both listed as Regents). Maybe I'd have better luck in D.C.?

1st DE SHAVE - QUESTIONS

It generates a wonderful lather, that is very protecting, and I actually like the scent. Nothing at all wrong with VDH.

Razor Cleaning
Published (2009-11-26 13:33:00)
I clean mine after every use. It's a hot water rinse followed by drying the flat areas with a tissue and the curvy places with a Q-Tip. That way there is never a scum build-up. However because of my large rotation I only use the same razor maybe twice a month. Len

Now I've always understood it to indicate a Long Handled Super Adjustable. Regardless of base plate. I have a metal plate long handled one.

Cool razor, I almost bought that one . I've seen the same set up (3 piece, metal case etc) by multiple manufacturers, from Germany and from Austria.

That's a beauty! The New Improved is a much rougher shave than the Old Type in my experience. I get BBS shaves without irritation, but the shave itself just doesn't feel smooth. It feels like the blade is scraping against my skin and I can really tell that I'm shaving whereas with the Old Type, it just glides over my skin.

Great tips. The Gems are wonderful shavers. If I didn't like variety, I would probably use my Gem all of the time.
I think I am going to do a week of Gems next week.

never seen one like that. maybe he took it apart to clean, then put it back together upside down and figured he'd try to charge $1k for a "rare" piece.
in all seriousness, regardless of rarity, that does seem a bit, uh, steep.

Ok, I am in. I have a Schick Hydro-Magic. I will start this "challenge" tomorrow.
I recently picked up a NOS Pal injector cartridge with 20 blades in it. Curious to know how those will shave, but will spend the first few days using my Rite-Aid brand Injector blades.
P.S. I have only used my injector 2-3 times.

I tried one exactly once. It zipped around my face like nobody's business. Almost too easy. I'm surprised this isn't recommend as a noobie razor more frequently.
The only problem I had is that it's just too mild for my beard. To be fair, I never tried it with a Feather.
I was thinking of trying my first Feather in a Tech, but I suppose it could be in my Krona. Hmmm.....
