All people here, wondering if we are the only ones getting bothered by Planet X, Nibiru, 2012 "crazies", I would advise to take a look at the Skeptical Inquirer #5 (September/October 2008). There is an article by David Morrison of "Ask an Astrobiologist" about "The Myth of Nibiru and the End of the World in 2012." He gets exactly the same questions and angry replies to his answers as appear ...

I hear people talking a lot about the failing educational system in the U.S., and I wonder what the source of the problem is. Besides the obvious (No Child Left Behind, lack of funding, etc) it seems to be hard to pin down the source. Education has been getting consistently worse through several Presidential administrations that have run the whole gambit of political affiliations and social ...

I like Russian helicopters And the Sea King helicopter.I've been on board HMS Eagle,HMAS Melbourne, and HMS Invincible that have visited Wellington. I know one or two people have experience with the Sea King here.I am impressed with how well they perform in rough weather, especially with SAR duties.Pretty brave! PL

This is going to be a long one my friends. Get your drinks, go use the facilities and then buckle up. Now several things in this story are going to require multi-paragragh explainations before we get to the main jist. The first being: Why I Hated F-8 Crusaders Now the F-8 was a fine bird in its day. But at the time I was in, it was at the end of its operational career. ...

I saw on the news last night and this morning that there is grave concern over the path of TS Gustav. It may be a Cat 3 by Labor Day and the cone of probability has New Orleans dead center. Everyone hope that it misses or fizzles.

An area I'd love to see (and am considering moving to in a few years) is North America's mountainous coastal region from southern Alaska through western British Columbia and into western Washington, where the cool-weather rain-forests grow. Due to the classes I'm taking now and the internship I'll be starting in January, the only sufficient window of opportunity I'm sure I'll have for a ...

When I was a kid, windshield wipers were simple: A lever with 3 notches: Slow. Medium. Fast. Not for a while now. My latest car...you practically have to be a [offensive language removed] rocket scientist to figure it out. Besides 2 notches it also has additional controls/settings which always seem to make the wipe rate too fast or too slow. And the placement of the extra ...

I saw this on my media sweep for work purposes From BBC News Online Quote: The first steam engine built to run on the UK mainline for almost 50 years is to make its trial run. Tornado has been assembled by steam enthusiasts in Darlington in an 18-year project costing £3m. The 72ft (22 metre) engine is based on the Peppercorn A1 locomotive, ...
