Both Sides??
Published (2009-12-02 22:01:00)
It's not unusual for one side to have a faster let-down than the other. Sometimes babies prefer different positions on each side, to accomodate that. The generic advice is that so long as baby comes off by herself, or falls asleep, she's "finished" the side. The exception to this is when baby is small, weak, and not really managing to drain the breast (normally the breast still feels full, too). If after baby comes...

Well done you! Might have to try to do a similar pic of my own chunky monkey - she's 17lb 3oz now at 16 weeks, from 7lb 12 at birth. I genuinely do notice more cream in my milk when I eat a lot of chocolate but I thought it was just me!

Oh yes! Do a similar comparison! I love comparison pics that show growth and changes, both in pregnant bellies and babies! Sounds like Ilana is nearly as big as my chunk muffin! Good to know Otter isn't the only one with chub to spare!

Yes Thomas does this all the time. It can be so hard to figure out why, can't it? Sometimes I think it's because he's hungry and there's not very much milk there, but then at other times i think it's because he really just wants to suck but isn't hungry. We aren't using a soother at the moment because it was causing him to wake up every time it fell out of his mouth for the whole night, but i am seriously...

Hi ellie,
huge congratulations on the birth of your LO . It sounds like it's been a stressfl few days.
I've no experience but i know it's absolutely possible to switch back to breast feeding, i'm sure some of the other ladies will have good advice.

My little Olivia has been crying constantly all day for the past several days. She seems to still act hungry even right after a feeding. However, she will stay at breast for 25 minutes and pull off when "done". Do you think it's possible that she just isn't getting enough at breast? I know there's enough milk supply because I still get some after pumping following a feeding.
I decided to...

I could have written that! My BIL had his girlfriend down to stay and everyone went out but me, because I had to be here for the cluster feeds etc. I don't mind really, I want to be here, but sometimes I find it hard. She has also started waking in the evenings and night so I can't even go out once she's asleep.
The thing that helps me the most is to look at pictures of how much...

I do exactly the same as you, BF during the day and ella always has a FF at 7pm just before she goes to bed, 1 to give my boobs a rest and 2 I find it fills her up and settles her for longer before bed. Ive been back at work now for 2 months only 2 mornings a week but my mum gives her the formula milk, then I feed her when I get home, it has,nt affected my supply at all.

I'm no expert but I think if you want to then go ahead and try it? Your baby might find it hard to get a good latch if he's only had bottle so far but try and see what happens?
edited to add - if it is breastmilk then it will be digested quicker than formula, but it is still proper milk and will satisfy him... until he is hungry again

Had to share this as it seems so amazing to me! My LO has been exclusively BFed (and I have had to fight to keep it that way). I posted these pics in my journal and someone said he is the poster child for BFing.
He has had amazing growth! So to the Magic of Booby Juice ! Anyone out there in the early days and getting frustrated, try to hang in there!! I think Lincoln is proof ...

Hey girls... I'm new to this side of the forums
My baby girl Evie is 6 days old and I've been breastfeeding since day 1 but I've really been having some problems with it. She seems to latch on ok but then she has this habit of falling asleep after a few sucks. I've tried everything to get her to wake up while feeding... tickling her feet, rubbing her back, blowing on her face, you name it...

I've just rung NHS Direct because Aisling has refused all milk feeds for 24 hours I spoke to the nurse who was surprised I hadn't tried a bottle before now. Tried to explain about possibility of nursing strikes etc to be toldit was an old wives tale and to give her a bottle, that most people would be weaning off the boob at this time anyway? She was basically implying that our bfing days were ...

We cosleep and she just sleeps in between us. I never worry about rolling just because I never really roll around when I sleep to begin with. I think it's just one of those things where your subconscious knows she is there so you are more careful when sleeping. It's definately an awesome bonding experience too to see her little smile right when you wake up in the morning.

To be honest, we're not doing too badly on the sleep front, apart from when Monty has really bad colic. However, more sleep would of course be appreciated, and we're looking forward to the nights when Monty "sleeps through" (I use inverted commas there because I've read that sleeping through does not mean 7pm until 8am, or some other sought-after period - rather, it means sleeping for 5 or 6 ...

Hey
Ive been feeding logan now for 6 weeks. At first was really difficult and i was finding it almost impossible to feed him constantly and look after my other son. Logan was feeding all the time and not giving my breast chance to fill up, so he was never getting a 'full' feed iykwim? He was just snacking all day long. So midwife suggested giving him a bottle of formula between feeds to ...

Today (well, yesterday now) was my little sister's wedding. We had never intended to go as Toby was only technically due 6 days ago so i was thinking at this stage i'd either be overdue and fed up and not feeling like making a 100 mile round trip in the car or else i'd have a newborn baby and also not be able to make it. However since he was 2 weeks early we kinda didn't have an excuse not to ...

hi my baby is a week old now i had him a little early and i decided to breast feed and with colostrum in the first few days it was ok but once my milk came in he seemed to take ages to settle after a feed and one night he wanted feeding every night, so i decided to express some milk and try him on a bottle feed with my milk and he settled really well after and slept well.
i guess my question...

Wow, we had a tough night here. Just need to vent really! Toby seems to be going through a ' growth spurt' (well, i am hoping that's what it is) and fed almost constantly from lunch time yesterday until 2am this morning!!!
It was basically nappy change, feed, wind, nappy change, feed, wind. I left the bed only to go to the bathroom and once to get a drink and even then he was crying for...

Evenflo breastpads make my boobs itch. I have some in my bra right now and I'm kind of PO'd about it, because I have an overwhelming urge to whip my boob out and scratch it, but my little brother is sitting across the room. Anyway, back to my "review". They're really thin, and absorbent, and pretty (little purple flowers on the back...), they cover a large area, and they're individually ...
