I completely missed this thread, I have fitted a Dension into a couple of iDrive cars, one a 1 series and one a 3 sereis which uses the same CCC so exactly the same. They work fine.

Just to clarify - the Vibe Litebox range accepts hi/speaker level over RCA - there's a selector on the back which lets it know if you're using low or high input ... Cheers. m6569 wrote: Use the converter that came in the pack of buy a better quality one. If you put a high level (speaker) into a low level (RCA) input you're asking for problems. However being Alpine the quailty is excellent, the screen has a light senser to dim properly, you can set the graphics up to match your amber dash etc. etc. Will have a search for that, the V735 also has light sensor.

Been looking at this off and on now for ages - going to order the tweeters...

Have a look at the Binatone X430, £50 from Maplin and a decent bit of kit for the price. Massive screen, decent mount and very user friendly. Got one for the wife but I use it more than my Tomtom one xl. Cheap price but a good bit of kit.

Whilst digging about behind the panel in search of some permanent and switched 12V wires I came across some interesting findings. There is a fibre optic connection point behind a removable panel - whats that there for? There is an aerial termination point in there also. It seems that there are connections provided for an an additional radio in the glove compartment - very strange!

Hi - just had a handsfree kit fitted - parrot MKI9000 with steering wheel control however the fitter says my radio needs its 'external audio mute' activating by BMW. Apparently he's seen this on some 5 series and Audi's before but never on a 1 series. Maybe because its a new model???? Anyone know if this is a costly thing to have done?

This is meant for those that have either the business or professional CD player or Navigation system but no factory upgraded speaker package, which is the hi-fi or DSP/Logic7 options. Why Upgrade? Because it’s crap. The basic stereo whether Business or Professional is pretty poor, mainly because it is not powerful enough to give it any authority, and by the time you have got to a volume ...

Anyone fitted one of these to retain the CD changer AND have full IPOD control via the Nav Screen? Looking into this at present and wondered if anyone has: 1) Practical experience of fitting one of these to an E87 2) Read or have any experience of the Dension 500 and what they think compared to BMW's IPOD offerings. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Reason for asking - my father has just turned 80 and has asked for my help with buying a portable SatNav. Before I wander off to Halfords and look at all the Tom Toms and Garmins I thought I'd ask if anyone has any recommendations? I'm used to the BMW unit so am new to this. It goes without saying it needs to be quick to set up, simple to use, clear display, no fancy extras. I'll only get ...
