TBH mate I think i would just order the other tweeters, it sucks that it is an extra £55, but it is cheaper than changing out the mids, and I don't know what else needs done to get it HiFi ready, re-code? It is just more hassle than it's worth I think. See if you can punt the 012 tweeters, and get the new ones, even if you sell the old ones at a bit of a loss it cuts the outgoings down. I tried the 2 x 100ohm series variable resistors to attenuate mid/high inputs to Alpine amp it works! You can get the levels pretty much where you want them since the bass level remains constant. There is a disadvantage - you'll inherently be reducing the max output on the mid/high channels, so have decided to take the plunge and go for a separate bass amp. Managed to get an Alpine MRP-M350 on ebay for 40quid delivered which will put out...

I've opted for the same setup as you. Upgraded headunit, and the 10 speaker setup. Glad to hear it sounds alright !! I've removed all the sat nav related equipment, as its too costly. I'll just stick with my smartphone I think!! Thanks for all your help people!

Should have mentioned I also wanted it as standard as possible. That's why I didn't connect the control panel. I can control everything through my steering wheel. The only sign of the install is the mic.

Just one more question, how to connect the wires using one of those terminal blocks or a crimp connector! many thanks

I have just done both of these upgrades and I have bass +2 and treble +1. I think it sounds great!
