Fitting Tweeters
Published (2009-12-15 19:21:00)
TBH mate I think i would just order the other tweeters, it sucks that it is an extra £55, but it is cheaper than changing out the mids, and I don't know what else needs done to get it HiFi ready, re-code? It is just more hassle than it's worth I think. See if you can punt the 012 tweeters, and get the new ones, even if you sell the old ones at a bit of a loss it cuts the outgoings down. Once again, sorry to hear ur probs buddy. E

Thanks for the replies so far - all interesting reading! Andy That link is 4 years out of date though - needs updating! I dont think it is very relevant if you are buying a new car.

Earthquake subs fitted

I tried the 2 x 100ohm series variable resistors to attenuate mid/high inputs to Alpine amp it works! You can get the levels pretty much where you want them since the bass level remains constant. There is a disadvantage - you'll inherently be reducing the max output on the mid/high channels, so have decided to take the plunge and go for a separate bass amp. Managed to get an Alpine MRP-M350 on ebay for 40quid delivered which will put out...

I've opted for the same setup as you. Upgraded headunit, and the 10 speaker setup. Glad to hear it sounds alright !! I've removed all the sat nav related equipment, as its too costly. I'll just stick with my smartphone I think!! Thanks for all your help people!

Should have mentioned I also wanted it as standard as possible. That's why I didn't connect the control panel. I can control everything through my steering wheel. The only sign of the install is the mic.

I done this last week with my facelift and it was easy. By far the cleanest door card removal i've done, didn't break a single clip. There are just 3 torx screws. 2 under the handle trim and one just above the tray at the bottom. One thing i always do in winter is warm the car up inside a bit first. The plastic clips become far less brittle when they're warm. Once the screws are out, you need ...

Hi I'm not best qualified to comment on the sound setup, as you said it can be a little confusing. The Alpine kit seems popular, but I have read of some issues with it and I'm not prepared to fork out several hundred pounds to potentially have problems. As far as the Nav goes, I would say neither of them are 'worth' it as the new price is frankly ridiculous, but I have the Professional (as I ...

Look on fleabay, there is a couple of Professional head units on at the moment and not a bad price. I have just fitted one to my 116 but to be honest it was not until I fitted tweeters that the system came to life. Make sure you get a headunit with the chrome rings on the knobs, these are the newer versions and will not need re programmed. As for the PDC, just disconnect the original speaker and ...

How about if you have a CD changer and you want a proper iPod connector (3 above). Is this possible and will BMW do it using a switch in the dash that could allow selection?
