Back in the day, during Japan's meteoric rise to wealth and power, Japan took a lot of flak by the Western (the usual perps)powers over a range of items from A to Z, you name it. They called it "Japan Bashing". There was even a book written by Shintaro Ishihara detailing all the strife they had to endure from these same nations. Sound familiar? Google Japan Bashing. You will see a pattern.

Pointing out pollution is not bashing China. Pollution is a global problem shared by all countries, some on a much larger scale than others. China just happens to be one of the larger scale polluters. They have experienced a great deal of growth in a relatively short period of time, so their pollution is less subtle. I do hope China and other world powers plan on using all the wealth that created this planet's mess to clean it up before...

In America you will find disproportionally more non-Asian kids doing martial arts than Asian kids. Our parents don't want us to do shit but hit the books... Sometimes I think Asians really try too hard to not have anything to do with Asian culture...besides the food, of course.

Admiral Zheng's voyages were awesome. However, my opinion is that from a historical point of view it also revealed much about the tragedy of Chinese civilization.
Specifically:
1) The voyages were suddenly ended and followed by a ban of ocean-faring activities.
2) Much of the records from the voyages were systematically burned.
3) The ship-building and navigation skills...

Fascinating. I wonder if Korean corps are benefiting from their relationship with China. I know Japan is coming to the realization that the sphere of influence is changing, but that's a different historical path.

I am not a fan of having to pay more taxes to pay for some "new" system. However, I am all for more competition in the medical industry. Just today, I had a friend who was quoted $500 for an MRI at one clinic and $320 at another just a few blocks away. Pricing is ridiculous in the industry and is done without any regard of supply and demand. The same with prescriptions, why in the world would a ...
