Gloves While Detailing

For the most part I don't wear rubber gloves on the exterior but sometimes do on the interior. If I do I just use disposable rubber gloves.

Megs has a new trim product coming out that looks promising. AIO+KSG is a pretty popular combo. I have used 303 at every other wash and it works for sure, but applying it 26 times a year is a PITA.

Re: New wheels/tires, clearcoat the back or just Collinite? I've toyed with the idea of using something like ZoopSeal on wheel backs, but I've never gotten around to it (one more product just sitting on the shelf ). If they were mine (and I weren't doing the Zoop), I'd layer on 6-8 layers of KSG. That works very well for me, keeps things protected long/well enough that an annual redo is usually sufficient and easy enough...

i as well use gloves but generally when i'm only working with really oily stuff or things like water spot removers or degreasers for a long period of time. I need to try some blue nitrile gloves though.

Paint vs (molded) plastic
Published (2009-11-26 10:46:00)
Plastic oxidizes, too. We have some tractor experts on here, maybe they know what the paint is. Imron is a two-part polyurethane airplane paint. At least when I knew about it, it contained polyisocyanates, and had to be sprayed with an airfed respirator. It gained some favor in the model airplane (because many model airplane guys are involved in full scale, also) and custom car circles (because it's really rugged). I'm still having a...

#26 will last longer and is pretty easy to use. Souveran is nice looking but dosen't hold up compared to alot of other waxes out there. at least their paste. I haven't really tried out their liquid version yet. I really like DP's Max Wax or Danase's Classic wax myself. Both are super easy on and off and both last pretty comparable to other waxes (4-6 weeks on average)

How can one tell if something is painted versus molded plastic?
The "vehicle" in question is a 96 John Deere Tractor (GT275)
I was convinced it was SS (Imron), until I talked to somebody who seemed convinced it was green molded plastic....now I'm not certain.
The reason I have doubts is because I was able to correct it with my 3401 + SIP + PFW, but the correction went ...

+1 for the Klasse. The AIO has worked great for cleaning and protecting both the smooth and textured black trim on my Honda Pilot. I've recently started topping that with Sonus Glanz (like diluted KSG), which looks even better and lasts longer.

It's gonna be a bit tough to get everything for $250.
Here's what I recommend, which would be okay for a beginner, for around $250.
Porter Cable $120
LC 4 or 5 inch backing plate $20
LC orange and white pads $20
Menzerna Intensive Polish $30
Menzerna Final Polish $40
Chemical Guys M-Seal $15
This is assuming you have everything else, (wash soap, clay + lube, tire...

I have a 2004 4Runner Sport and I am trying to figure out how I can make it look its best for as long as possible. I am in El Paso, TX so it gets very windy and very dusty and the weather really wreaks havoc on a black car. I was thinking about getting the paste Souveran , but the oils would attract dust like a magnet. (but it sure would look good until then...lol)
Anyway, I just want ...

were you putting a lot of pressure down on the machine while buffing? That
may do it. Sometime you'll get that if its too aggresive of a product on a
soft clear but vettes aren't soft. Not sure man, maybe too much pressure?

Gloves While Detailing
Do you find it best to wear gloves while working, or just go barehanded?
If so, what type of gloves: Rubber, latex, disposable non-latex, or mechanics gloves etc....?

every car will have slightly different readings regarding the clear coat thickness as no two vehicles are the same.
How many times this type of procedure can be done will depend on many things:
Polish Choice
Pad Choice
Machine Choice
How much pressure
How many passes for ea. product and pad combo
you should be able to polish your car a decent amount. I wouldn't recommend ...

I primered my eclipse YEARS ago flat black. Before it become cool to do so. I hated going places and people asking "when you gonna paint it"? IT IS PAINTED!!!!! Now its cool, I dig it, always have. It looks mean, I wanted to do it to my Ghia but I like messing with the paint too much LOL. Some of the cars now with these "paint jobs" are not painted, some are covered in vinyl.

Some people swear by using just water for claying, so they can get the right "bite"; I like to use car wash, others wouldn't touch clay-to-car without a dedicated lube. You just have to experiment and see what works for you.

I drive a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado. I would like to get the chrome on my wheels, grill, and bumpers (front and rear) to really shine. How would I go about doing this?
Here is the style of truck I have:
I think the wheels are chromed (stainless?) steel. The center caps and piece on the grill are (chromed?) plastic. The bumpers are chromed (stainless?) steel.
If it is ...
