Is it a good decision to buy Focus
Published (2009-12-13 14:01:00)
just to add if you buy LS onwards focus you will need to use 95ron or above, sometimes ours will ping on 98 ron. But when the compression ratio is close to 11:1! but most newer cars need 95. we love our LS focus. Drive it like its stolen!!! the engines are strong handles well. great on fuel even when you flog it a bit. I rarely get into the 8's it is a bit rough but we run 17's will low profiles, but if you are a...

How best to cut plastic?
Published (2009-12-14 20:04:00)
I've used a fine hacksaw blade successfully. Dremel can be hard to use. You have to keep the speed down. In some applications I've found a razor sharp utility knife to be very effective

Horn not working
Published (2009-12-16 10:49:00)
The horn magically started working yesterday. Like a pi$$ fat, it wasn't required at the time but I'm sure it'll let me down again when I need it to perform. Merry Christmas folks

I think a thorough service is in order. Sounds like a blocked fuel filter, possibly even air filter. A good service can't hurt. Doesn't have to be at ford either, any decent mechanic will do.

Interesting. I was reading something the other day that perfomance can suffer if the exhaust can't completely fill with gas (ie too big or to fast flowing) didn't quite understand it tho. And before anyone chimes in with 'back pressure' it's really only relavant to the size dump pipe on a turbo engine and the amount of gas between the turbo and the cat. Shouldn't matter too much on an N/A ...

Thats bad news!! especially after all the work youve done, seems you will keep it and continue the Melbzetec focus journey, fair call too! must be tempting to get that RS over in Wellington though!! hope you can get it sorted out without to much hassle.

This is probably a good time to express your interest, as rumour has it that some Ford Australia Execs are currently quizzing dealerships on whether or not they think the RS is a viable option. Apparently they are considering a limited run of about 300 cars with prices starting at around 60k drive away. Not sure how serious they are at this stage, but at least it is starting to look like a ...

Dremel tool is good. Close to Christmas too, if you dont already have one! Look, there's a tonne of easy ways to cut plastic. You can even use a soldering iron to cut through, all be it slowly, many plastics, then trim with a knife. Small notches is the way to go, cause you cant put it back on! - well not so easily. Definately take the panel off though. If you can make a "jig" to ...
