Really the only way to know if that is the right placement is to measure the in room response with REW and see how the performance looks at the seating position.... Other then that its a cr@p shoot, if it sounds good, then great, but if you have room nodes that are creating a problem, you'll not be able to tell what you need for eq at the seating position to get a flat response...

Am I Pushing My Sub Too Hard?...
Published (2009-12-27 15:24:00)
Thanks for the input, Ikeyes. I was thinking the same thing, and I'm sure that I can get better performance after I do the crawl-test. Problem is, I'm moving in 2 weeks and I haven't ordered a really long coaxial cable yet (the one I have is only 6ft). I'll definitely do that in the new place though. The thing that worries me though, is that my levels are all pretty low. 1-2 O'clock on the sub volume, receiver sub...

Help! Did I blow the subwoofer?
Published (2009-12-27 10:44:00)
The simple answer is that if it still works, no, you didn't blow it. You got lucky. If nothing else you learned why everyone says to make sure all your equipment is powered down when kerfutzing with the wiring. You don't go playing with the wiring under the cars hood when it's running either.

Onkyo Receiver and Onkyo Subwoofer

The 707 is a fine receiver and should power most of the speakers you look at. For speakers, stay away from Bose and dump that Onkyo subwoofer for a real one.

The first thing I would check are all of the fastners holding things in place especially the driver, maybe something is loose and that would be the simplest of repairs, good place to start.

What size is the room exactly... I have run that sub in my small bedroom and it had some very very impactful output... Easy as much or a bit more then my F112 I have in there now.. I guess it all depends on how HOT you like to run your bass compared to your main.

Not if it died from overexcursion. Does the cone seem okay? Press on it gentally in and out and see if it binds. The suspension should be stiff but even, and not bind at all through its path. Does the amp on the back light up? Is it connected to the correct input?

Welcome to the forum! Have you tried to troubleshoot what is wrong with the amplifier? I'm wondering if it's something simple like a fuse.

Hi. I recommend that you contact SVS and ask them. They are very good about recommending what they think the best sub for the job is. The Ultra is a great sub, but the PB12-Plus is no slouch. You could always add a second sub in the future (a) if you want to and (b) if/when you get the money to afford it. People here, including the founder (Gene), have discussed the benefits of having ...

I've heard alot about amp failures with these. If it is b-stock I would ask if it has the upgraded amp. If not then I would pass.

Hi. There are a few things that I'd change with your set-up: Set the speakers to "Small." MCACC often sets speakers to Large, even if they are bookshelves. That's one of the very fews things (if not the only thing) that I think needs to be corrected with MCACC - otherwise, it does a great job, IMO. Leave the crossover setting on the receiver at 80 Hz to begin with, but feel free to ...

Welcome to the forum! I looked up both the speakers and the sub online, and you'll have to let me know if your speakers are different from what I found because you mention an "audio out" port. The ones that I found have two "SUB OUT" RCA jacks, which would be perfect for what you want to do. Here's what I would do. Connect both the left and right "SUB OUT" RCA jacks on the A5 panel to the...
