Nothing wrong with the room size. An SVS PB12-NSD would be a good start, with a second one bought later. For a bit more an Epik Sentinel. For acoustic room planning, you'll want your main listening position about 8.5' from the front or back wall. At the farther distance from the front wall you could do a 124" screen when you're ready for a FP setup. Could you also confirm/verify the surround model number. Klipsch has never...

Awsome piece of equiptment. Made delivery and partial hookup. I am looking to hook up my CDR recorder. It will be hooked up to the Tape in and out for Analog. The digital feeds will be CD Player with a Coax Digital Out to the Integra's Coax Digital in. The CD Recorder portion will be a Coax Digital Out to another Integra Coax Digital Input. The CDR has a Coax Digital Input but the Integra does not have a Digital Output. Niether a Coax nor...

So I got a pair of KRK VXT 6 and they're classified by KRK as near or mid field monitors...anyways, I don't know how to place them for optimum performance! I've read about sound reflections and absorptions and I tried to make my room into a listening room, but it sounds pretty bad.... Here's what I did! The listening position is 6ft from each speaker My longer walls are about 133 inches My shorter walls are 111 inches The...

Near-field monitors work best right by your head. Like a bit more than arms reach. Position them so the drivers are level with your ears. This may or may not mean putting them on a stand, depending on where you want to listen.. The idea is for the sound to hit your ears before anything else in the room. Play some music with a nice "image" ... something where the mic's were placed so the musicians are placed....now play with...

Wow. Are you a munchkin or an oompa-loopa? MS is right. Treat these guys like near-field monitors for the best results. If you do put them on stands, try to keep the tweeters at the same height at ear level.

I'd agree with your assessment. Nothing between the plasterboard is a missed opportunity. MLV will add mass, but so does adding more plasterboard. MLV will not damp that plasterboard.
Green Glue will damp the board. Less expensive than the MLV

Subwoofer, AH has good articles on finding placement. I think closer to the mains is not a bad idea for certain reasons, but I should also note that the square dimensions of 16x16 are the worst you can have, and you will suffer no matter what. You can significantly treat the space, but it will only do so much for the acoustical situation.
Corner setup does happen often in many homes, but ...

Chair's right next to the surrounds are not good. You will get an earful that way.
You might try mounting them on that rear wall in the kitchen. Though the boundary effect might be a problem.
I'd at the very least move up the chairs and angle the speakers more from the rear to prevent localization.
