You have the general gist. I can't say that DD/DTS is lossy due specifically to compression/decompression, but only know that it is lossy. The bitrate for DTS is significantly higher. For BD, it's true that the codecs take up less space. However, they also seem to be more complex, at least as implementation, to me.
