I would appreciate suggestions for the following... 7.1 setup room size is 12.5' x 15' 67" tv seating is going to be tight to the back wall. My concerns are 2-fold. i) placement of side surrounds with respect to rear surrounds ii) placement of rear surrounds ie)too close to listener position

Been having bad thoughts, again. When I bought my 55" Plasma, I told myself, SD dvd's look good enough, no need to go down that High Def DVD road. Then that, "man this looks pretty darn good, becomes, I wonder what if..." Well that was a PS3 and a A2 ago. So now, I am totally happy with the addition of my new to me JBL S312's and S36's for my all JBL sound field, and of course my wickedly ...

Hi all, I moved a couple years ago and the new place had no good spot for a HT setup. I ended up putting a Samsung plasma tv over my LR fireplace and placing the speakers where I could. The center channel is right below the tv, but my front R and L speakers had to go on top of built-in cabinets about 7 feet off the ground. These are floorstanding B&W 603S2's. I put them on their sides ...

Hey guys, I was just wondering if anyone had any news as to when movies such as Star Wars (new and old), Jurassic Park, Matrix, Lord of the Rings, etc will be released on Blu Ray??? I remember reading something somewhere and from a guy at Best Buy that they were expecting it in August 2008 but its almost September and its not in their systems yet meaning they are not awaiting shipment. If...

I have a JVC RX-309TN Digital Synthesizer Receiver and up to now have had 3 pairs of speakers hooked up to it and all were working fine. It has terminals for 2 pairs of speakers but I doubled up on one to have 3 pairs. I have had for quite a long time a Speaker Selector from Radio Shack I never got around to trying which selects which pair to have on (no volume control, it's on the receiver). ...

Right now I am using a 22" samsung with a 3000:1 contrast ration and a 2ms response time. I have thought about buying a bigger monitor, maybe around 32-36 inches, casue bigger is better right? Or one of my friends says excess in best! Is there any down side to doing this? Are computer monitors sold as computer monitors for a reason? Can I get a similar are better response time and frame...

I'm hanging out in my HT, enjoying great picture and sound and realizing it's can't last. It can't, because I'm getting ready to move to a new city and a new house for work. If I had my way, we'd pick up this house and plant it in the new town, but it won't work that way and I'm looking at going through the build process all over again. I'm looking for some advice from those who have gone ...

Hello All, I just purchased a Yamaha 663 and a Bose Acoustimass 10 system. Does anyone have any information on any special settings / tweaks to optimize the two systems to work the best together? While I realize there are better speakers out there and the [b]uy [O]ther [S]ound [E]quipment acronym . I am happy with the Bose and they seem to perform well for me. Any feedback would be ...

PVR Options - 17 new posts

I own a Panasonic DMR-E80H PVR that I'm quite fond of. It's not fancy in any High-Def kinda' way but its ability to record anything that comes down the coax to a hard drive and then burn it to DVD after I've edited out commercials is brilliant, to me anyway. It's getting on in age and its tiny 80 jiggawatt drive is close to failure. I've looked for new models but the story I get is that ...

My wireless router crapped out. I know this is an audio forum so I am hoping you guys can point me in the right direction. If I can get the info I seek here than that would be great (as I am sure the majority of you are pretty tech savvy across the board). But, I will be happy with info that is pointing me to the right place to ask my question if I can’t get the info here. Basically,...

I acquired an AM-500 Bose "bass module" for $20 last night. Its a model from somewhere between 1995-1998. I figured the price was pretty good and that because it was Bose, it had to be at least decent. I got home and hooked up the inputs to my B speaker channel and left my klipsch in channel A, bypassing the crossover on the module. The module surprisingly complements the klipsch pretty well for...
