70mpg on many of my old smaller Japanese motorcycles. Worst? 40mpg town. Best? If I recall correctly, close to 90-100.

My commute beater 86 BMW 528e gets 29.5 MPG running average on gas - all conditions. It cost $1700 used I'm proud to have kept a nice clean older car out of the scrap heap/crusher. Mileage is one factor, but what about MFG energy consumption, recycling energy consumption, raw materials depletion, etc. Buy used just like we tell most folks when they go shopping for Audio gear on CL. New is maybe safer in an accident? What are you doing...

While I don't own one, I was quite satisfied to get 27mpg highway on a Corvette with 438 horsepower during the time I rented one. I get 18.5-20mpg with a big Dodge 3500 Quad Cab dually (Cummins diesel) and it has about enough power to pull the Queen Mary. This is with the roughly 120 hp added by "chipping" it.

Not only in Fords, but in all vehicles, and for heaven's sake; household electronics & appliances..... WHY WHY do they have to keep live full-current supply circuits engaged for a stanby memory, or whatever they think has to be live??????????? They could put a good mercury battery to maintain memory functions in clocks and TV adjustment presets, and necessary standby memory in cars. "always-on" power is a menace...

If they have half a clue you should be just fine. My Pontiac going into the GTO is half chevy just because it was cheaper and easier to do so.

Well, it seems that the Europeans have the diesel figured out. It just doesn't catch on in the US for whatever reason. Look at the VW Jetta TDI and BMW 335d, they're both well over 40mpg highway. Nice looking, roomy, mid size cars that I would actually drive. Compared to 10 years ago, diesels are much quieter and cleaner now. Now the car I hate-the Smart car. I like to laugh at the cramped ...

There's a Ford SUV just down the street from me with a burnt engine compartment. Even though it was parked in the drive, from the charred siding, it looks like it nearly set their house on fire.

That's embarrassing. The Tundra is the first 100% North American-built Toyota truck, and I believe the only assembly plant is in Texas. But although I'm a major Toyota fan, I have to say that rust is a problem with them. Unless you're in a desert climate, you will have a hard time finding a Toyota truck more than 15 years old with no rust in the bed. I have a '79 4x4 which is rust-free, and ...

Whoops. Appears that he was moving along pretty good at some point, the spoiler is fully deployed. I bet the insurance company is not too excited.

It was just a matter of time, the theory has been around for a long time and it seems technology has finally caught up.

That seems high. If I remember the labor rate at my local Cadillac dealership, that price would indicate 6-8 hours of labor. I had the inner tie rods and lower strut mounts ground out in my 96 Caddy, and a 4 wheel alignment done for $600. This was a 4 hour project that required the front end cradle to be dropped. I can't believe that brake lines could be that involved.

Off the top of my head, I would paint it blue urban camo for starters. Add wire mesh or chain link fence to the windows, brush guards, etc...
Or.... you could always paint it black with a red stripe and add a spoiler and lights like the one below...the original urban assault van !
It's not the correct van for it but that's what I would do. Then get a Mandingo mohawk and lots of gold ...

I spent a few years in the tire business and would put nothing but Toyos on my vehicles, and haven't for years. I have never had any problems with any of the Toyos I've had. I've had light truck tires all the way to a 19" performance tire.... nothing but praise for them all.
