Hightower I've answered your other thread. I'm not far from you, so come and have trip out and I'll show you how they should go
I drove a few before I settled on mine, and some of the 2.5's are very sluggish, whereas some of them really fly. Certainly don't settle on the first one unless you're 100% happy. They can be prone to fuel pump, and variable vane turbo problems, both of which would...

Cheers Byzan
It's going to an independent tomorrow we'll see what they say.
Is that the way it works though - if
the diag says it's wrong no one even actually tests what gasses are coming out?

I've not read your other posts to know what you have tried. First ideas would be a pssoble MAF problem, or maybe the vanes in the turbo being sooted up, or possibly even a fuel pump issue.
I doubt
Evans Halshaw would have full VAG-com, that needs to be your first step really.

What was the initial coding before you changed it? Have you checked to see if that is the correct one for your car with cruise control fitted?
Also, has the cruise ever worked since you have owned the car?
Another thing to check will be to see if there is a fuse for it that may have blown.

The C5 chassis S6 is a 4.2 V8, they did a 2.7T in the A6, but not the S6. The older S4's were at 2.7T.. Around town you would probably see 12-15mpg from a 4.2. I would get the S3 as they will do 35mpg on a run and won't be that bad in town either..
